What better way is there to spend the Easter 🐣🐣🐣 weekend than birdwatching, and hopefully finding and recording rare breeding birds to help with their conservation? Here’s some ideas of what to look for in early April
BLOG: Ian Woodward, BTO senior research ecologist, describes how combining data from the RBBP and the BTO’s Heronries Census has improved our knowledge on the UK’s Little Egret population, as in new @britishbirds paper https://t.co/MfCsosgSE6
The members of Merseyside Ringing Group have added the Group's name to the letter calling for an independent scrutiny of Liverpool City Region's proposal for a barrage across the Mersey Estuary.

Thank you, Ian! We're really going to miss you on the panel - your broad knowledge of birds and habitats, questioning mind and great company have made you a wonderful person to work with.
The latest report from the RBBP, Rare Breeding Birds in the UK in 2023, is out now in British Birds. It reports on the 104 species and races of rare breeding birds recording breeding, or showing signs of breeding, in 2023. There’s a summary at https://t.co/cLbTPkCDY1 🧵 [1/15]
@manxmannin Peter, as you know I ringed (and colour-ringed) her as a chick in May 2014 on Beeston Castle, Cheshire. We're thinking of writing an article, with you as a co-author and some of the most interesting of your photos, in our ringing group annual report. Please may we get in touch?
I'm pleased to see that 'orange 27', the female ringed by me as a chick in Cheshire in 2014, now 11 years old, is still going strong in her 9th year of breeding on the Isle of Man.
Thanks Peter!
As promised, a shorter video (saves you 4 minutes to spend birding) with 3 pointers to make your birdwatching more valuable for the monitoring of rare breeding birds

I was surprised, but very pleased, to receive in today's post a nice letter from @Juliet_vickery and a gold coloured badge to mark my 50 years membership of the BTO, the organisation that leads on much of this country's bird study.
I have just 'attended' the talk online to Cheshire Wildlife Trust by @grahamfappleton and it was probably the best presentation to a local bird/wildlife organisation that I have ever seen and heard. So full of information, so nicely and simply explained. Thanks, Graham!
