I am stunningly overdue to create a pinned tweet for my ref sheet and general info... but I guess that's on character. I stream most Tuesday and Thursday nights at 7PM EST, and while I play a variety of games they tend to center on computer-based sci-fi or horror.
@QuanticQueijo@mothra107@KritN_98 Genuinely it seems like so many people just view it as a grind factory (circuit + incarnon material farm) but there's so many layers to the setting and it's so spectacularly put together. I should replay the quest...
@Asdfgh783805@transmeatloaf@laitinhu Unreliable perspective, same as the drifter saying some things in KIM that Roathe debates/contradicts. Characters within the setting can and do have incorrect beliefs about the complicated things that happen around them.
@transmeatloaf@laitinhu But the alternative of believing the narrative feels even worse, and especially feels nonsensical when they start saying it's impossible to create any extra copies of the "person" for some reason
@transmeatloaf@laitinhu My understanding is it's because the authors like to pretend they're the same person with the same soul if they've just been "uploaded" like you moved their whole being into a physical location on a computer. It really ruins my immersion and suspension of disbelief, personally
@transmeatloaf@laitinhu This is kind of a common trope in media that has honestly pissed me off for a while. Sci-fi stories like to make the process of "brain scanning" destructive in whatever form it takes because it implies a continuity of existence for the "person"
@ecfeclipse@PlaySoulframe@The_Ben_Starr This is a joke line and a reference to the gif. His awkward thumbs up here is in response to Rebb Ford saying "we learned Ben Starr will do *anything* for money" in an ominous voice on stage at the Game Awards this year.
@faithandheresy@Crazy8sCommando And as I understand, Mason was watching the in-universe TV show this is canonically framed as, right? I haven't played Chaos Reign at all yet, but from that clip it seemed like he chuckled because he recognized how corny the portrayals were.
@mytownsquare@RitzyVT Far more importantly, unless I'm misunderstanding what you mean by "it was child sacrifice" why would I join be persuaded to join a religion by a story of mass child sacrifice? That seems to lean into the "god is the villain" narrative, not out of it.
@mytownsquare@RitzyVT This seems to relate to a totally diffefent argument about the flood, though it does raise other questions for me. Why would it be more reasonable to renegotiate the text into a hyperbolic interpretation when it seems more likely this is an adaptation of older flood myths?
if you're a new ffxiv player going through msq and your friend suddenly asks what quest you're on and if you can stream it to them, be very very afraid

@Chris_C_Lowrey@KurouPS4@ArtofBattletech Does Dragoon battle armor not count as Clantech? I thought they were elementals. I know most dragoons are freeborn, so maybe they wouldn't fit into the true elemental armor built for those bio-engineered giants...
