I am stunningly overdue to create a pinned tweet for my ref sheet and general info... but I guess that's on character. I stream most Tuesday and Thursday nights at 7PM EST, and while I play a variety of games they tend to center on computer-based sci-fi or horror.

@transmeatloaf @laitinhu My understanding is it's because the authors like to pretend they're the same person with the same soul if they've just been "uploaded" like you moved their whole being into a physical location on a computer. It really ruins my immersion and suspension of disbelief, personally

@transmeatloaf @laitinhu This is kind of a common trope in media that has honestly pissed me off for a while. Sci-fi stories like to make the process of "brain scanning" destructive in whatever form it takes because it implies a continuity of existence for the "person"
