It's ranked.
For the record this will be my last map for the game. I put out all I have to offer for this game and the result was fulfilling. I see no reason to continue mapping anymore after this. The poem written in the middle of the map was done by me, as a personal goodbye.
It's finished.

@realMonstrata I'm sure if you put enough money on the table someone would develop that. All the info required for it is publicly visible anyway so anyone can do it.
@elcheerwastaken If owc was more profitable, then the pools would be bigger. It'd be quite a statement to say that staff is purposefully keeping the pools "small". I'm sure peppy would be more than happy to increase the pool sizes if generated revenue from the game would sustainably allow for it.
I don't understand how this is made out to be such a big deal. Minimum of 120+ hours comes out to max 12$ (pre taxes) per hour, which is minimum wage for many developed countries. Being staff implies being paid. If one wants money from osu! then your best bet is to become staff.
@Teejayosu Being good and versatile enough with your skillset to be qualified to be a playtester, while not participating in the tournament, is a very hard-to-come by package. Other positions don't suffer from lack of people. You also have to be trustworthy to not leak the pools. Warrants $
@ClTRUSTARD That solely depends on the popularity of the football club buddy. I wager that the staff of minor league kids get paid better than the kids right? If you want bigger pools then make the owc more profitable. Staff wages wouldn't go up even if pool sizes did. This is baseline wage.
@Teejayosu From what I understood, custom map creation is a position that you apply for, therefore you understand that you'll get no compensation from it. Sure it'd be neat to get compensation for official tournament content creation, but you thread a dangerous line when monetizing mapping.
And that when things are running smoothly your existence is completely ignored. I'd say flipping burgers at McDonald's is a better, much more sanity-friendly option. Or just being unemployed and playing osu! while complaining about others being paid for working.
Oh and before you sign up for the position of staff, do remember that every time shit goes wrong you risk being at the center of concentrated hate from a community mainly comprising of young adults and teens hiding behind anonymous anime avatars telling you that you suck.
@dioistaken Well you're right with the technicalities, I brought this topic up since a major policy change has been done with user titles and this felt like a natural extension of the discussion.
If all previous OWC winners get a former champion title then wouldn't it make sense to have a unique title for #1 ranked player by pp and a title for all those who have been #1 at a given point in time (after ppv2 perhaps)?
It just occurred to me that uploaded beatmaps; the mods, scores, difficulty names and comments are akin to a photo album. The dates are recorded and you can relive distant memories with the map, people and ideas that were involved in the creation. Glad to have an album like that.
@suki_nathan If that's the case then you don't have to worry at all about what you said in the original tweet as the only person who would "judge" you using the pattern in a way that you care about would be you yourself right? And there is no need to judge yourself if you map for enjoyment :)
@suki_nathan You're looking at it wrong. Don't feel compelled to map or not map in any given way. Just put out whatever makes you enjoy mapping or you'll be slowly drained of joy by trying to please others. I don't suppose you started mapping to please others in the first place right?
