The panel on Amplifying Voices and Narratives of Immigrant = So powerful. The phrase “I’m bilingual-what’s your superpower” can be triggering. For me, learning a language is a privilege. For others, such as refugees, it’s a necessity and not necessarily positive. #MCTLC20

Wore my “profe de español” shirt today and had a zip sweatshirt with it. A student pointed out that it looked like “profe de pan” 🤣

Wore this shirt yesterday & inadvertently started a huge discussion about what “superpowers” ss had - student super engaged. Examples included being able to eat 20 chx nuggets in 17 seconds, sleeping for 20 hours at a time, touching elbow w/tongue, etc. CI at its finest!

Less than two weeks after #ntprs2019 I got to create a lesson for a grad class using @holadmsspanish idea for retells using Snapchat filters. I laughed so hard at myself that I cried, but own children didn’t necessarily find it as funny. But my husband did!
