Yep. We've all been there. Christmas is nearly here, but what to buy for friends and family? This year the answer is easy: A Little History of Everything from the Big Bang to You: "Sapiens but for Science" as the Astronomer Royal so eloquently put it:

Congratulations to Professor Tim Coulson @ProfExistence on being elected a Fellow of the #RoyalSociety — one of the world’s most prestigious scientific honours. The Oxford zoologist and The European correspondent was recognised for his work in ecology and evolutionary biology.
I thought I'd document my journey writing a book and getting it published. If you are interested in learning about how to do this, follow along. If you want highly polished additive videos, this feed isn't for you.
TimeTable London is a podcast series recorded in London pubs. It blends of pub banter, life stories and discussion of why London is so amazing. Honored to be a guest, and love recording it. Podcast+pub=happy. I couldn't think of a better way of spending time. https://t.co/zHPm43dQEn
I enjoyed the ecosystems depicted in the AVATAR movies, but there were a couple of things that bothered me. The evolutionary history of the Na'vi was a little bewildering. so I wrote an article about it for the Sloan Museum of the Moving Image

🚨 A short letter to the editor 🚨 about #millions of street #dogs in India is out today in Nature, before the #Supreme Court hears the case tomorrow (28.01.26), again. @ProfExistence, Tim Coulson, and I feel that a clear-headed look at the causes of the crisis is needed to find workable solutions.
India’s widespread, non-violence philosophy of Ahimsa means that culling dogs or removing feeding stations entirely could cause public outrage. However, reducing the number of feeding stations might be palatable. To be effective, this must be paired with major improvements in waste collection and processing, and with vaccination and neutering programmes.

We are delighted to announce that we have acquired 'Predators: How Nature's Killers Shaped Life on Earth' by Tim Coulson, Professor of Zoology at The University of Oxford.

Badly behaving billionaires can spark scandals that help democracy thrive.
In the latest Science of the Times podcast episode https://t.co/ngj1bC1Fsg Tim and Syma talk to Pepper Culpepper about his new book "Billionaire Backlash" in which he argues that corporate scandals might just save democracy.
Learn about how political science works, and how misbehaving billionaires can generate a backlash from the public with profound political consequences.

Amazing what you can find in a wolf pup's stomach after 15,000 years. Woolly rhino DNA shows that despite a long decline to extinction, they maintained genetic variation. The eaten rhino did not die because it was inbred. https://t.co/lFyhoaZNrj
New paper out from our @OxfordBiology insect work with @Jinlin0v0@sam_gascoigne@ProfExistence, Ben Ibbott & Dominique Baptiste! We investigated how predictable vs. unpredictable environments shape adaptation through plasticity and evolution. 🪰

Reindeer have amazing adaptations for surviving extreme cold. Their counterflow system in legs & noses is wild, and both males & females grow antlers!

People liked that it was short, easy to digest, and not a massive tome. It's written in an easy style—like a bedtime story for grownups.
