@dan_schmidt I remember working out a bass part for Someone on the Ibanez knockoff I had in Dr. Lust. I don't remember playing Hum - so most likely post 1996 when @gthuang joined Honest Bob.
If a grad program or research group is not preparing students for careers beyond academia, then what is happening is likely not mentoring.
Mentoring is about helping someone achieve their career goals, not replicate ours.
@KentLGee@acousticsorg@tyce_o Feels like there should be a square for rushing through 10 slides in the last two minutes after the chair stands up to usher them off.
@asrivkin @bestalbum95 @planetpatman@dan_schmidt I remember seeing Concussion Ensemble at the Middle East in the early 1990s, and they played with a volume that lived up to their name.
We are hiring a post doc for a project studying copepods (and their impact on larger animals). Come join us @somas.sbu @stonybrooku . Applications due 27 Nov. More info: https://t.co/xKSV4LMgNH https://t.co/CeNvDELcGs
@stevenstrogatz That is a beautiful insight. Kudos to Sylvan.
Also, I'm now nostalgically jealous of your chalkboards. I miss the feel and smell of chalk.
Now that the award notice is official, I'm so excited to announce my new @NSF project with @eastonrwhite. I'm expanding taxa--we will be using passive acoustics to estimate populations and phenology at not just bat caves but also Adelie penguin colonies! 🦇🐧🔊
Great thread by @KJ_PalmerPhD on challenges of bioacoustics field recordings and processing the data. With my 30+ years of processing recordings, I can certify she is right on point!
