I’m forever grateful to the Jack Whitten estate & @HauserWirth for allowing me to use Whitten’s work as the cover art for my book. The exhibit, “Jack Whitten: The Messenger,” is spectacular & worth checking out @MuseumModernArt before it closes in early August.
I saw this masterpiece in person, & it did not disappoint! To create this mosaic, the artist Jack Whitten used a mix of materials, including a razor blade in the center. The artist said the razor blade represents “the double edge of black identity,” which “cuts both ways.”
I see folks in the ChatGPT college discourse calling for a return to blue books, presentations, no screens, etc. But we should have hard convos re: how we ceded those things in the name of “accessibility.” We can do both, but the state of accommodations needs to be addressed.

RIP ❤️ Professor Kiah Duggins was among those lost in the mid-air plane collision at Reagan National Airport. Professor Duggins was set to begin a new chapter as a professor at Howard University School of Law this fall. May her memory be a blessing.
