Last week saw the end of my stay in Melbourne 🇦🇺
3 months has flown by with visits to Adelaide, Newcastle & Sydney
Unforgettable memories, new (and old) friendships, and more research collaborations than I can count! The only low point was Delta coming 4th!
Thank you everyone!
Last week I visited the amazing city of Sydney!
Spent the day at University of New South Wales, @UNSW, gave a lecture at @MRC_microbiome and tour of amazing facilities with @HoldGeorgina@emadelomar@EleanorJBeck@marijkajb
And not forgetting dinner with the most amazing view!
@belkacemi94692 Quite difficult to see from photos but think it is looking at who gets better on a low FODMAP (with IBS??). So different population and different intervention. But similar theory. Who gets symptoms with some CHO (our study) vs who gets better with some CHO removal (that study)
Why do some people develop bloating with some carbohydrates?
We examined clinical, diet, microbiome & meta-transcriptome in those bloating induced by either:
Fructans ➡️Abdominal girth, F:B ratio, CAZyme
GOS ➡️Breath H2, GABA

Thank you!
Baseline diet may affect the effectiveness of probiotics and prebiotics
@ProfWhelan, @GenelleLunken, @hmstaudacher, @MariaLMarco & colleagues provide best practices for designing better clinical trials of probiotics and prebiotics:

Working night shifts makes type 2 diabetes harder to manage.
