What began as Yugi’s mysterious connection to an ancient Egyptian puzzle grew into unforgettable rivalries, monsters, friendships, and battles that defined a generation of manga, anime, and card-game fans.

4 years ago, Takahashi passed away at the age of 60 after reportedly entering rough waters in Okinawa to help during a rescue involving three people caught in a rip current. He did not survive, but his final act is remembered as one of courage and selflessness.

Takahashi’s imagination transformed a story about games into a universe that continues through cards, anime, video games, tournaments, and generations of fans around the world.
