"I hate Mackinac so much."

Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed is facing backlash over a resurfaced clip showing him repeatedly criticizing Mackinac Island, one of the state's most iconic tourist destinations.

The footage, filmed during his 2018 gubernatorial campaign and later released in a 2020 documentary, shows El-Sayed saying he's "hated" the island every time he's visited.

The clip is now going viral and drawing sharp reaction online, though some supporters argue his criticism was aimed at the Mackinac Policy Conference rather than the island itself.

Fox News Digital reached out to El-Sayed's campaign for comment but did not receive a response.
