My view on the 2 own goals:
1st goal:
During corner kicks, many goalkeepers usually go for the ball and don't get it right. This is not the first instance, and definitely won't be the last. He could have miscalculated the trajectory of the ball, he could have been blinded by the sun, we don't know. But based on what I saw, he was in the air, he ends up behind Mbatha, then he desperately tries to punch the ball away before it gets to Mbatha, but because of the momentum, he doesn't connect properly. He could have easily left it to be headed in by Mbatha if he wanted to sell the game. Why would he make it so obvious with an own goal?
2nd goal:
Ngiba was under pressure because Mbuthuma was behind him. The ball could have landed on Mbuthuma for him to score. People are saying Mbuthuma would never have scored. The defender doesn't know that. All he knows is there are 11 professionals on the field. Even if it was Chaine behind him, that would have still added pressure. Now why would Ngiba opt to score an own goal when he could just "miss" the ball and leave it for Mbuthuma? How many times have you seen defenders try to clear the ball, only for it to end up in his own net?
These are my views, and I would love to hear yours. Perhaps I'm seeing this with a "biased eye" because I love Pirates. Put emotions and banter aside and disagree with me, perhaps you will make me see something I didn't see. Don't just say "corruption", substantiate your claims.
