@paulickreport Every breakdown makes me look at my sweet Bird and imagine how I would feel if it were him. Breakdowns look different when you own an OTTB. Each one doesn’t just destroy a horse, but the life they could have had after the track.
@jen_thejew My dog can get into dogproof trash cans. He knocks the can over and pries the lid open. Putting it behind closed doors helps, but we’re not perfect about keeping it closed.
@ThePolishedEqu I was just thinking about this the other day 😳 I am terrified of catching a ring on something and ripping my finger off, or getting one stuck on my finger. If I ever do marry, 100% will be silicone rings or no rings 😬😬😬
@Komaniecki_R Also, (and this is absolutely the case even in “traditional” concerts), we are having a whole lot more fun making the music on stage than the audience is having listening to it. Nobody wants to admit it though!
@Komaniecki_R I think it’s an acquired taste. Not enough new music being played in schools. I thought similarly about new music, but after a semester in my school’s new music ensemble, I see its merits. You have to have an open mind about sound and melody to enjoy it.
@TeaWithTash@jaime4evah I personally don’t use nosebands but there’s nothing wrong with a well-fitted cavesson. Same for a properly adjusted running martingale.
@TeaWithTash@jaime4evah I don’t think this example is the bare minimum- there are bits like Pelhams and Kimberwicks that are more bit while still having fair mechanics when used properly (two reins for the Pelham and only snaffle rein through the martingale ring) and martingales aren’t inherently bad.
🚨🚚FREE HORSE HAUL🚚🚨
We’re not truckin’ around. Somebody’s horse is getting hauled for free.
1. Like.
2. Retweet.
4. One new follower chosen at random gets a horse shipped for free.
If you don’t have a horse you can give to anybody in the racing industry, just tag them 🤯
@GloriousAllianc Have you been doing anything beyond just good nutrition? Bird has a lovely thick mane, but I just can’t get the bottom of his tail to fill out!!
@DRFLivingston I love my Seattle Slew great-grandkid. He was also born this day- Feb. 15, 2011. Shares the same sweet disposition, intelligence, and athleticism (though he uses it towards different ends these days!)
@GloriousAllianc A small part of me can’t wait until my heart horse retires. It feels wrong to say, but I want to just spend time relaxing with him. He’s in his prime right now though and I owe it to him to train him to the best of my ability in case something happens to me and I can’t keep him
@RRP_TBMakeover Using phrases such as “adopt” and “rehome” in most cases is just a way for people who have purchased an OTTB to pat themselves on the back. Most of the time, these horses are purchased. They have value as sporthorses and using those terms downplays their abilities and potential.
@asbeventer2 I don’t have a picture, but the day I got my western saddle last fall I was so excited to try it that I went out to the barn in shorts, chacos, and a sports bra and rode in a western saddle with a super sparkly english bridle
