There is something deeply humiliating about our closest Alliance partner telling us to raise our game.
it’s like when a friend puts their arm around your shoulder and says: ‘what the hell are you doing?’
US urges Starmer to boost defence spending https://t.co/X00ewPV9A7
Healey and Carns resigned because Rachel Reeves won't admit the choice: either defend the realm or expand welfare. Not both.
Starmer's "3.5pc of GDP" on defence is a deceit that everyone pretended to believe. The pretence just ended.

I don’t say it happened overnight, numpty. I say you’ve made it worse. You have. In two years. Nor have you a single idea of ‘fundamental change’. Which is why it’s projected to get worse under you.
First, you can use the tax revenue to cut bills.
Second, your balance of payments improves which lowers costs across everything.
Third, there are entire sectors supported by the oil and gas industry - chemicals, plastics, even renewables - which is why a Government attacking its own industry is sheer insanity.
You talk about the centre ground, which is something you seem to think other people create - rather than accurately diagnosing the country's problems and pushing for the right solutions.
Maybe that’s why you pushed Net Zero legislation with no plan and with no forecast on the cost of energy.
Growth and cheap reliable energy is our priority.
So things are so bad after fewer than two years of Labour that we now face wartime price controls and rationing?! Policies introduced then when we faced genuine shortages of essentials. Is that where we’re heading again? If so, Labour is heading for the knackers yard, never to return.
‘Net migration’ is a misleading measurement, because it is produced by subtracting departures from arrivals.
The ONS estimates that 813,000 people immigrated to the UK last year, with 627,000 (77 per cent) of them arriving from non-EU countries. These included 138,000 Indians, 56,000 Pakistanis, 54,000 Chinese and 47,000 Nigerians. Meanwhile, 642,000 left the UK – including a quarter of million British nationals and 118,000 EU nationals.
This represents substantial population change – almost 400,000 Brits and Europeans left this country last year, to be replaced by 627,000 migrants from some of the poorest countries in the world. This matters because all populations are not equal.

Burnham’s contribution to the Labour Party circus is to insult the electorate and ignore the views of local people who voted to leave the EU.
He’s just another self serving Labour politician putting himself before the country.
10 Downing Street: The '0' on the black door is purposely angled as a nod to an original 18th-century door where the zero was misaligned.
Invisible from the Street: The front door cannot be opened from the outside; it has no handle, requiring a staff member to open it.
You DO NOT have a mandate for this @Keir_Starmer
We did not vote for rejoining, paying europe, or even closer alliance in the election that you won with just 34% of the electorate.

The juxtaposition of the story on the left “£1 billion a year to EU” with the one on the right “no money” for defence is a stark illustration of the Remainers’ delusional folly.
President Trump’s deregulation proves Milton Friedman’s point: don’t measure government by its rhetoric — measure it by whether it gets out of the way and lets people produce, build, invest, and grow.
We’ve spent millions on a Covid inquiry - and still missed the point. The real lesson? Stop handing sensitive scientific research to China. This level of naivety isn’t just costly - it’s unforgivable.
Wrong!
If you were to grab a patch of UK land, it wouldn't be Argentine, because its territory is already part of UK sovereign territory
"They move into a place that isn't theirs" - Falklands are a few hundred miles away from Argentina - and proximity isn't the test anyway!
🏴 Happy St George's Day!
Well done to The Golden Lion in Hoddesdon for putting up some brilliant decorations.
And always a pleasure to bump into the town crier!
