❗ DE MIGUEL HAS DIED IN HOSPITAL, according to the club’s press office.
🕊 Yesterday, he suffered a heavy collision with the opposing goalkeeper, causing his heart and breathing to stop.
He was 30 years old.
A Tenerife player suffered cardiac arrest after being struck in the chest by the opposing goalkeeper’s knee during a match in Spain’s second division.
⚠️ The home side’s striker immediately collapsed unconscious on the pitch — his heart and breathing reportedly stopped for 20 minutes.
De Miguel is now in intensive care in serious condition and has yet to regain consciousness

Liverpool vs Arsenal. Watch the first pass after possession changes. 👀
A loose ball in midfield can turn a controlled attack into an emergency within seconds. That makes the moments between attacking and defending especially interesting in this fixture.
For Sunday’s meeting, here are three things to watch:
⚽ Can either side play through the first wave of pressure?
⚽ Who protects the space behind the full-backs?
⚽ When the ball is won, is there a clear forward option—or time for the opposition to recover?
Possession and shot totals will tell part of the story. The location and quality of those chances will help explain the rest.
Which battle do you think decides this one: the press, midfield control or the wide areas?
Give us your reason with your prediction. 👇

Eight matches without a win. Chelsea away next. What would convince you United are turning a corner? 🔴
The pressure on Michael Carrick makes every selection a talking point. But the performance at Stamford Bridge deserves a closer look than the team sheet alone.
Watch the distances between midfield and defence. Who offers a passing option when Chelsea press? How many players recover when possession is lost? Can United create chances without leaving themselves exposed?
Those details will help explain whether the team is finding solutions—or relying on individual moments to get through another difficult afternoon.
For Chelsea, the challenge is to turn that pressure into chances while staying alert to the quality United can still produce.
Your call: what needs fixing first—United’s defensive shape, chance creation or decision-making?

The most dangerous word in football betting? “Guaranteed.”
You’ve probably seen it: a confident prediction, a winning screenshot and a caption telling you the next pick is a certainty.
But confidence is easy to publish. Evidence takes more work.
A forecast that gives a team a 70% chance of winning still leaves room for a draw or defeat. That uncertainty doesn’t disappear because the team is stronger, the analyst sounds convincing or the last four predictions won.
The difficult part is remembering this before the result—not explaining it afterwards.
Imagine 100 different matches, each given a 70% chance of a home win. If those estimates are well calibrated, you would expect roughly 70 home wins across a large enough sample. The rest would be draws or away wins.
You wouldn’t expect the winners to arrive in a neat sequence. Losses can cluster. And a forecast can have reasonable supporting evidence and still lose.
That’s why a single result tells you so little.
One winning prediction doesn’t establish that a model is reliable. One losing prediction doesn’t establish that it is useless. To assess either claim, you need a much fuller record.
Start with what was published before kickoff.
Was the selection recorded in advance? Was the estimated probability visible? Can you find the unsuccessful forecasts as easily as the successful ones? Has the explanation stayed the same since the result?
Then look beyond the headline percentage.
What supports the estimate? Which factors create doubt? How has the model performed across comparable predictions—and over how many matches?
There’s another distinction worth making: hit rate and profitability are different measures. Winning frequently does not automatically mean finishing ahead. The odds and the amounts staked also affect the result. A page full of green ticks leaves much of that story untold.
And when a forecast loses, the next match isn’t obliged to recover the money.
Increasing a stake out of frustration changes your exposure. It doesn’t make the next outcome more likely.
At ProofPitch, we believe a football forecast should come with an explanation and a history you can inspect—including the misses.
A useful percentage helps you understand uncertainty. It should never make you forget uncertainty exists.
Before trusting the next winning screenshot, ask:
“Can I see the full record?”

Three wins in a row. Are you convinced? ⚽
A team wins its last three matches. The results look strong — but how much do they tell you about the next game?
What would you check FIRST?
A️⃣ Recent results: winning builds confidence, and finding a way to win matters.
B️⃣ The performance behind them: chance quality, opponents and how those wins happened.
Here’s the twist: three wins can come from very different performances. A late penalty, an outstanding goalkeeper or consistently dangerous attacking play can all lead to the same three points.
And impressive numbers still need context. Who was available? Was the team chasing the game or protecting a lead?
In ProofPitch, explore match analysis, model estimates and explanations — then check the full forecast history, including misses and returns.

Two shots. Two goals. A brilliant attack — or a misleading statistic? ⚽
Imagine two teams finish a match with 15 shots each.
Team A takes most of theirs from distance, under pressure, with defenders blocking the route to goal.
Team B repeatedly finds a free player inside the penalty area.
The shot count is identical. The attacking performances are very different.
That is where football analysis gets interesting: when we stop counting events and start asking how they happened.
Expected goals — xG — helps describe chance quality. It estimates how often a shot might become a goal based on factors such as location, angle and the type of opportunity.
But even xG needs context.
A penalty can account for a large share of a team’s total. Several attempts during one scramble can make an attack look more productive than it felt. And a team protecting a lead may deliberately surrender possession while keeping dangerous chances to a minimum.
Before deciding who “deserved to win,” ask three questions:
⚽ What chances did each team create?
⚽ How did the score change the way they played?
⚽ Was this a repeatable pattern or one unusual moment?
The final score tells us what happened. Analysis helps us understand how — and what might matter next time.
At ProofPitch, we believe a forecast should come with reasoning you can examine. Because a number becomes more useful when you understand what sits behind it.
Your team wins 1–0 but spends most of the match defending. Are you celebrating a controlled performance or worrying about the next game?
What would you check first?

How much of a football prediction is analysis — and how much is just recognising the badge?
Como 4–1 Manchester United is an uncomfortable question disguised as a scoreline.
The easy reaction is to make the whole night about United. Another inquest. Another argument about the manager. Another round of clips and memes.
But that leaves Como playing a supporting role in the story of their own win.
Nico Paz scored twice and supplied the assist for Tasos Douvikas. Jacobo Ramón added another before Joshua Zirkzee’s late reply. This deserves a conversation about what Como produced, alongside everything United failed to do.
Here’s the more interesting debate: when a famous club loses heavily, why do we so quickly call it a collapse — and take so much longer to credit the opponent?
A badge tells you a club’s history. It cannot tell you whether today’s midfield can escape pressure, whether the available defence works as a unit, or whether the opponent has the tools to punish its weaknesses.
That is where reputation can creep into our judgement. We recognise the name, remember its best teams and unconsciously lend some of that strength to the side on the pitch today.
There is a trap on the other side, too.
After a 4–1, every warning sign can suddenly look obvious. But the final score does not prove the exact outcome was predictable. A serious review asks what was knowable BEFORE kick-off, what changed during the match and what we are only explaining with hindsight.
The same discipline should apply to Como’s next game. One outstanding night is a reason to look closer. It does not make the next result automatic.
At ProofPitch, that is the conversation we want: the reasoning behind a forecast, the uncertainty around it and the full history afterwards. A result should be something to examine, including when it contradicts the prediction.
So give us your verdict:
Was this mainly a Como statement, mainly a United failure — or does that question already give the bigger badge too much attention?
Pick your side. Then name ONE moment from the match that makes your case.
