Colin Kaepernick and @yourrightscamp answered this family's call when they needed it most by helping fund an independent autopsy for Nolan Wells. Thank you, Colin for standing with this grieving family in their pursuit of answers. 🙏🏿 https://t.co/RMZBi5EaNn
George E. Johnson Sr., the pioneering American businessman and entrepreneur who built a Black hair care empire, died at his home in Chicago on Monday, his family confirmed in a statement to ABC News. Johnson was 99. https://t.co/E1Jmmnq769
Our prayers are with Danny Glover and his family following his Alzheimer's diagnosis. For decades, Danny has used his voice not only to entertain, but to fight for justice, equality, and human dignity. His courage in sharing this diagnosis reminds us that Alzheimer's touches millions of families and that those living with it deserve compassion and support.
What the Supreme Court just did to Haitian families on Temporary Protected Status is disgusting, dangerous, and wrong. This decision opens the door for hardworking people — mothers, fathers, children, church members, business owners, taxpayers, and neighbors right here in Congressional District 20 — to live in fear of being ripped away from the communities they helped build.
And let’s be clear: the people running against me who have already held power should have done something about this a long time ago. We have two sitting members of Congress in this race and a former mayor who is Jamaican, and for years they have watched our Haitian brothers and sisters live on “temporary” status with no real pathway to citizenship. They had the titles. They had the seats. They had the power. But they did not deliver.
Temporary Protected Status was never supposed to be a political football. These families should not have been left in limbo for decades. Congress should have created a real pathway for good, hardworking people to earn citizenship, come out of the shadows, and live without fear.
I am not here to defend criminals, scammers, or gang members. I am here to fight for the good people — the families, workers, seniors, students, and children who make up the heart of this district. When I get to Congress, I will fight to protect our immigrant families, protect Haitian TPS holders, and push for a real pathway to citizenship.
Career politicians had their chance. They failed. That is why I’m running.

Black people don’t hang themselves from trees directly facing a park that commemorates civil rights history while visiting Miami to celebrate Juneteenth. Tonea Nicole Miller was lynched.

Politics has become a game of greed, power, and self-preservation. The people are tired of being ignored while politicians look out for themselves. It’s time for a new generation of leadership that works for the people, fights for the people, and delivers results for the people. Enough is enough. #ForThePeople #TimeForChange
"Do not get lost in a sea of despair. Be hopeful, be optimistic. Our struggle is not the struggle of a day, a week, a month, or a year, it is the struggle of a lifetime. Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble!" ~Congressman John Lewis
Clarence B. Jones, trusted attorney, advisor, and speechwriter to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., helped shape some of the most powerful words in the Civil Rights Movement, including portions of the historic “I Have a Dream” speech.
He also played a critical role in preserving and helping deliver Dr. King’s “Letter from Birmingham Jail” to the world after smuggling out handwritten pages from King’s jail cell in 1963.
His intellect, strategy, and unwavering belief in justice helped amplify Dr. King’s message and push America closer to equality. Rest in Power to a visionary whose legacy should NEVER be forgotten.
YES! South Carolina's Senate blocked a redistricting push that many feared would target Congressman Jim Clyburn’s seat! This is a big win for fair representation and ensuring our voices are not diluted or silenced! https://t.co/vuuvW0LNDX

We are still carrying the energy of yesterday’s National Day of Action for Voting Rights in Montgomery.
Grateful for every leader, organizer, and community member who showed up committed to protecting democracy and continuing the movement.

Since Alcee Hastings passed away, many people in Broward have been asking whether Congressional District 20 has slowly been politically carved up and positioned for outside control. When you look at the conversations around Jared Moskowitz and Debbie Wasserman Schultz potentially influencing or entering Black political spaces, it raises real concerns in the Black community about representation and respect for historically Black districts.
For years, Black and Jewish communities worked together politically and socially in South Florida. That history matters. That’s why many people are disappointed and confused by what feels like political overreach into a district built on Black voting strength and Black representation.
The issue isn’t religion or ethnicity. The issue is whether Black voters will continue to have candidates who truly come from, understand, and represent the community. People are watching closely, and they want answers about who is really shaping the future of District 20. @GlennaWPLG@DeFede@rolandsmartin@stephenhjohnson
My mother’s words from 1995 remain painfully relevant.
As we face yet another Supreme Court ruling that chips away at the Voting Rights Act, her warning reminds us that voting rights are never secure when justice is weakened and representation is treated as optional. We must not be silent, passive, or discouraged. We must stay organized, educated, and engaged.
The fight for voting rights is still before us.

Mississippi. Tennessee. Louisiana. Alabama.
These states rolled back protections of the Voting Rights Act and continue disenfranchising African-Americans through congressional representation and voter suppression tactics.
This is the moment to take a stand. Hit them in the pocket. Boycott conventions, tourism, and major events that profit from our culture while ignoring our rights.
History will remember who stood up when it mattered most — not just for Black people, but for the next generation of all kids watching this moment unfold.
Make sure you’re on the right side of history.

What happened in the State of Tennessee was the largest and swiftest disenfranchisement of Black people that we've seen in at least a century.
It's on all of us to organize, mobilize, and participate in bigger numbers than their maps account for.
The gutting of the Voting Rights Act is a direct attack on democracy and the sacrifices of those who bled and died for equal justice. From Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to Congressman John Lewis and Fannie Lou Hamer, we cannot dishonor their legacy by remaining silent. We don’t feel no ways tired — we will keep fighting to protect the sacred right to vote for every American.
