ICYMI – Last Thursday we release our newest report: THE NOTORIOUS AND TRUE HISTORY OF NYC’S FINEST.
The report documents the nearly 200 yr racist history of the NYPD. The report is avail online now at https://t.co/y0tojSFR0e
In my career as a public defender handling over 1,000 cases and witnessing tens of thousands handled by my colleagues, I have *never* seen a desk appearance ticket issued for a gun possession case. Just sayin.

Thanks @GangiFromProp@propnyc.
"NYPD has escalated its discriminatory practices.
In 2022, @nycmayor's first year in office, arrests increased by nearly 20% ... > than 52% of felony arrests involved Black New Yorkers, 25.1% of the city’s total pop'n"

PROP court monitoring today in Manhattan: 14 of 15 cases, 93.3%, NYers of color; charges: petty larceny, disorderly conduct, forged instrument 3rd degree, possession of controlled substance; 14 of 15 defendants, 93.3%, left court. Racist #NYPD tactics persist in The Big Apple.
Big news in Lower Manhattan today:
A new tower has just been approved for the 5 WTC site. Will be *housing*. 1,200 units, including 400 affordable, w/ preference for 9/11 survivors and first responders. Will create 10k union construction jobs.
We need more of this everywhere.
Copagandists @rafa_mangual & @commissbratton start with a truth:
"New York City isn’t the hellscape that some anti-progressives on the right sometimes hyperbolize. Compared to the dark days of the late 1970s, ’80s & early ’90s, New York is much safer"

ICYMI – PROP released our final 2022 court monitoring numbers. During Mayor Adam's first full year in office, racist policing persists. You can read the full report, Racist & Relentless, here: https://t.co/4QQuv3J8Pw
The essence of hip-hop is liberation. It teaches us about public health, affordable housing, Black power and police brutality, and ending poverty. People who call themselves hip-hop leaders should govern like it.
These are the policies we need in NY. Hip-hop demands that of us.
