most comparisons of prop firms never specify if the drawdown is EOD or trailing. those aren't the same thing. one lets you breathe. the other punishes a bad afternoon.
@PropFirmPerk drawdown type is the only one on this list that fundamentally changes what you're trading. EOD and trailing aren't just different rules. they're different products.
@PropFirmsCmpd understanding the rules isn't the issue. the issue is whether the rules mean the same thing at eval time as they do at payout time. some firms write clearly. others... don't.
Alpha Futures vs MyFundedFutures is closer than people think.
Both are popular 50K futures prop accounts, but the rules, pricing and payout structure are different.
If you had to pick one, which one would you choose and why?
@kalvin_007 equity-based trailing DD and swing trading don't mix. it trails every tick against you intraday, so a good entry that pulls back before it goes can kill your account before the trade even plays out. EOD trailing is a totally different product.
@tenfourtrades lucid's rules are genuinely trader-friendly. no consistency rule and the trailing DD resets to EOD once you're funded. that's a big deal for anyone who swings.
