Beating Australia by 23 runs takes real character. And of course, Blessing turned out to be just that, a blessing in the truest sense, with a superb 4 wicket spell.

🔸Reflections on the #Warriors & AFCON ‘25:

1. We need stadia. Our facilities tell a story about our lack of seriousness about football.
2. Zim has exciting new talent. The Tawandas, Jonah, Musendami and many others. They must be allowed to play together.
3. The branding of the Warriors needs to improve.
4. The internal fights must stop. Morale was visibly low.
5. Don’t leave out excellent players. Why shoot ourselves in the foot?
6. Many Zimbabweans flew to Morocco from the UK, Zim, SA and other countries to support the team. Acknowledge and thank them on the pitch after each game.
7. Leadership matters. A good leader provides inspiration, fosters cohesion and holds the team together.
8. The build-up to big tournaments must improve. Market the kit and sell it everywhere. Use billboards. Profile players.
9. Make better use of social media to build hype.
10. Communicate effectively. Answer questions. Address harmful narratives. Give out info about matches.
11. Don’t be partisan. Use the game to unify not divide.
12. Do not conflate any club with the national team.
13. Pay attention to optics.
14. Representing Zimbabwe on the international stage is the highest honour. Take every assignment seriously. Avoid silly mistakes. Don’t celebrate with opponents after a loss. It’s a slap in the face to your fans.
15. Public confidence in the team has been eroded over the years. Be intentional about rebuilding it.
16. Use talented creatives in the marketing. The music, graphics and styling of outfits should be the best display of Zim excellence.
17. Take feedback on board. Consult widely and secure buy-in.
18. Success is not accidental. Prepare obsessively. We can’t always be coming last. It’s a blow to supporters and harmful to our national pride.
19. Stop the excuses and deliver. Almost doesn’t count nor does potential. There are countries at war that were winning matches.
20. Understand that with each game, everyone’s national pride is at stake. Chimboitaiwo zvinotifadza. We love the Warriors but we need them to love us back.

The best advice I have had in years (PLEASE READ TO UNDERSTAND).

Yesterday I Realized 30 Years of Hard Work Can End With Nothing when I attended a colleague's retirement party.

They threw him a big retirement party.
Music, speeches, food everywhere.
People clapped and called him “a man of integrity”, someone who gave his youth to a job.

But when the noise was over, he went home to a quiet, empty room… and an envelope.
Inside was his gratuity, just enough to clear debts and maybe fix the leaking roof.

Thirty years of service.
No house in his name.
No business.
No investments.
Just a pension that can’t survive inflation.

This is the story of millions of people.
We work hard. We stay loyal. We never miss a day at work.
But we never learn how money works.

We think salary is security.
We call bank savings an INVESTMENT.
We trust THE SYSTEM to take care of us.

Meanwhile…

Someone who started a small bakery 15 years ago now owns 3 houses.

Someone who bought land in 2005 now earns rent every month without lifting a finger.

Someone who invested USD2,000 in shares now makes more from dividends than many managers’ salaries.

The truth is bitter, Hard work alone doesn’t make you wealthy, financial literacy does.

If you keep living the same way, retirement will come with regret, not reward.

The world is full of opportunities:

Land, you can buy for the price of a new phone.

Businesses you can start with the cost of one beer

Investments that pay you while you sleep.

But if you don’t learn how to multiply your money, you will spend your life working for it, and retire with nothing to show for it.

Stop clapping for LONG SERVICE. Start building assets.

Stop waiting for a salary increase. Start increasing your income streams.

Stop blaming the economy. Learn the rules of money and play to win.

Because the day you retire, nobody will remember your YEARS OF SERVICE.
They’ll only ask, “What did you build?”
