@MavsHighlights@MavsFilmRoom The fact that everyone thinks that is why I feel optimistic about our ability to trade down and get a future lottery pick.
@MavsHighlights@MavsFilmRoom Not all of them, but we will need cheap non-rotation players to fill out the roster.
I’m also saving room for a full MLE and hopefully the trade exemption (picking up a bad contract for future draft assets).
@MavsFilmRoom Expand this list and I'm still team trade back. Gimme what POR did in '25 (#11 for #16 and '28 unprotected FRP) or what ATL (#13 for #23 and '26 unprotected FRP). I'm open to (a) any unprotected FRP from MIL, GSW, MIA, CHA, CHI, or MEM or (b) OKC's rights to '27 DEN/LAC FRPs.
@SaveStandards@autosinnovate eBay has been the law of the land since 1819. The patent industry has only been forced to comply for the last twenty years.

@RyanDeto OP being from PA explains everything. Boomerang game is strong in Western PA.
When we moved from Texas to Pittsburgh for work, locals didn't act surprised until we told them that neither of us were originally from PA. That was always the moment conversations turned to shock.
@danielahanley@BalanceCrafting I’m not sure the reason is all that “decent.” Giles Rich probably deserves more credit for causing SCOTUS’s lack of involvement in patent cases than any Supreme Court judge. More generally, the patent industry deserves the credit/blame for its thin regulatory market.
@MavsFilmRoom Last year, Portland (Schmitz?) traded 11 for 16, an unprotected FRP (Orlando), and two SRPs.
Given how many picks Dallas has traded away, how deep this draft is, and how many questionable fits are at the top of the draft, I could see a trade down regardless of lottery outcome.
@All_Things_Mavs This is a fun one. Would you trade #3 to:
MEM for 7 & 16
ATL for 8 & 23
CHI for 9 & 15
BKN/LAC/SAC for their 1st plus a future 1st (analogous to the Luka/Trae trade)
@MavsFilmRoom Those paths are not mutually exclusive. There will be several teams that can offer multiple firsts in this draft or future drafts that will want to jump into the top 4. I would do backflips if we traded down, added another 1st (or more), and drafted a guard that fits.
@arlvabikelanes@FedEx Disconnecting Canal Road from M Street still seems obvious to me. Geometry/traffic works much better if Key/M and Canal/Whitehurst are separate streets that never intersect. Those few suburban commuters actually trying to reach Georgetown would just need to take the Parkway.
@KirkSeriousFace Famous names also tend to have egos and tend to spend their time being famous instead of working. I want a GM so overwhelmed with self-doubt they work extra hard to nail the draft. If you haven’t spend 18 hours/day for the last year+ doing talent evaluation, I’m not interested.
@KirkSeriousFace Ownership is more afraid of being blamed for failure than of actual failure. Ownership won’t feel as much heat if they hire a big name and the big name fails.
@MavsHighlights The 5th, 7th, and 8th worst teams, meanwhile, have been overrepresented since 2019:
5th - 4 T4s in 7 years (57% v. 42% expected)
7th - 4 T4s (57% v. 32% expected)
8th - 3 T4s (43% v. 26% expected)
