The reason it can be “lonely at the top”

is essentially because the higher you climb, the rarer you are. The fewer # of people who share your level of understanding.

And THAT is what true loneliness is:

Loneliness is NOT solitude.

Loneliness is being in a room full of people but standing alone in understanding. And it’s not just that others don’t share your understanding… but also, that they are not capable* of understanding.

THAT is the loneliest feeling in the world.

However.

There is good news.
I love this quote from Carl Jung:

“No matter how isolated you are and how lonely you feel, if you do your work truly and conscientiously, unknown friends will come and seek you.

AND THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH
