I hate how OTT platforms like Jiocinema, SonyLiv, etc have taken away the ability to forward or rewind their video playback from us, especially for live sports events.
Ads are unskippable and you can't go back and rewatch any missed moments in the game.
Put together a little web game from an archive of 13,000+ The Indian Express front pages dating back to 1933.
Can you guess the year from old newspaper headlines? It's a lot tougher to play than I thought, but enjoyed reading so many old front pages

Between 2014 and 2016, in the Delhi edition of The Indian Express, the majority of full page ads came from a single pharma company called Torque promoting its various products. Including bizarrely multiple full page ads for a movie called "Dongri ka Raja"
Something I noticed while making this.
From The Indian Express frontpage dataset:
From 1933–1994, there were 0 full page ads.
From 2009–2017, 11.57% of front pages had full page ads.
From 2023–2025, that number jumps nearly 4 times to 42.33% of all front pages!!

A film's censor board certificate is required to be published in the Gazette of India by the Cinematograph Act, 1952. In the 2023 amendment, the government did not remove this mandate. Yet, CBFC refuses RTIs for certificate copies under Section 8(1)(j) of the RTI Act.
Today @Vonterinon and I are launching CBFC Watch, an archive of over 1 lakh censorship records for ~18k movies released in India since 2017. For the first time, you can search for any movie and see how they were modified before release.

Did you know your MacBook has a sensor that knows the exact angle of the screen hinge?
It’s not exposed as a public API, but I figured out a way to read it and make it sound like an old wooden door.
Love a good internet mystery and the new search engine episode "the dave & buster's anomaly" hits the spot
Reminded me of the classic reply all episode - the roman mars mazda virus (one of my fav investigations from them)
can't believe how incredibly nice everyone’s been in the comments - all for a browser tool to mute ads for a biscuit (that most won't even install)
there must've been a lot of collective quiet suffering caused by these ads for something so niche to get such a warm response
Compelled by those atrocious Parle Marie ads, I wrote a tiny browser extension to auto mute certain IPL ads on Hotstar.
It actually works really well and also mutes Vimal, Kamla Pasand, My11, Pokerbaazi etc ads out of the box.

slightly related: also made a small browser extension/adblock filter to remove those newly introduced intrusive tobacco warning overlays from Prime Video

If you prefer a chrome extension, here are the instructions to download this Amazon Prime Tobacco Warning Remover
I can't be arsed to publish to the chrome store and go through their soul sucking submission process because I still have some will to live 🙏
