[Pru @prudenceshen]

@FaithErinHicks oh man I am super excited for you

[Pru @prudenceshen]

@FaithErinHicks I would say a super AMAZING one that just finished is Nirvana of Fire, which you can see subbed on Viki!!

[Pru @prudenceshen]

@tiff_fb 😊😊

[Pru @prudenceshen]

@FaithErinHicks hahaha if you start getting weird email from me it's your own fault

[Pru @prudenceshen]

@moonklutz you could check out Nirvana of Fire if you were up for watching a drama on this but it's looooooong

[Pru @prudenceshen]

So that is what I would like to be reading or watching, and what I think would not only be great diversity but great narrative diversity

[Pru @prudenceshen]

It will involve a journey to the capital, her continued concealment as a male monk, and rumors she has magic because why not (she doesn't)

[Pru @prudenceshen]

She grows up a master tactician and martial artist, patient and simmering, and then seizes her opportunity to bring honor back to her family

[Pru @prudenceshen]

So my two minute pitch? Father leaves daughter with monks to conceal her as their family is slaughtered in political upheaval.

[Pru @prudenceshen]

Most Westerners don't even know what Jianghu is, which is mind blowing bc in Chinese storytelling that's like not knowing about fairy tales

[Pru @prudenceshen]

This is a universe of storytelling I treasured as a girl, and that I would love to write and read as a woman.

[Pru @prudenceshen]

And from a comics perspective? The opportunity to engage in the radically different look and tonal feel of Asian art would be bliss.

[Pru @prudenceshen]

The heroes come from humble roots, there's a code of honor, romance is not the central point.

[Pru @prudenceshen]

More than any story about the Western interpretation of this trope, I want the narrative of the more authentic version.

[Pru @prudenceshen]

As a Chinese kids, I grew up not on kung fu, but wuxia, and about lone warriors and scholars and dangerous women in the Jianghu community.

[Pru @prudenceshen]

I'm going to take this opportunity, while Asian representation and Iron Fist is on everybody's minds, to pitch an idea.

[Pru @prudenceshen]

Her: "I mean, it was just [NC-17]."
Me (at the moment): "I know right!!"
Me (later): "Oh God. I liked that sushi, too."
