VP VANCE at the March for life:
"In the ancient pagan world, discarding children was routine. From the skeletons in brothels to the child sacrifice of the Mayans, the mark of barbarism is that we treat babies like inconveniences to be discarded rather than the blessings to cherish that they are."
"The March For Life... is about whether we remain a civilization under God or we return to the paganism that dominated the past. The far left in this country tells our young people that marriage and children are obstacles... We know it's a lie."
A few points about today's DDF doc on Marian titles.
• It does *not* "demote Mary." That's stupid click bait.
• Nothing in the doc (at least in my first reading) is heretical. It in fact acknowledges Mary's unique role in salvation.
• It does not say either Co-Redemptrix or Mediatrix are heretical; it uses language like "not appropriate" and "needs special prudence" to use.
• It's much stronger against the title "Mediatrix of All Graces," arguing that since Mary herself received graces at her conception, she could not be the mediator of those graces, and thus not of all graces.
• It's far too worried about misunderstandings and confusion in relation to Protestants (a longtime Vatican obsession). However, lots of Catholic terms (like "Mother of God" and "transubstantiation") can cause confusion, but that doesn't make them inappropriate to use.
• As I understand it, Catholics are still free to use these titles in their personal devotions. The DDF is just saying that the Vatican won't be defining these titles as dogma.
• A future pope could reverse this decision and one day still dogmatically declare Mary as "Co-Redemptrix." Nothing in this document precludes that.
• Ultimately, this document is itself imprudent, as it likely causes more confusion than it eliminates, and it's bizarre that with all the problems in the Church today, the DDF thought this was an issue of serious concern. Ridiculous.
So, Catholics, don't freak out; this doc isn't a big deal. It shouldn't have been written, but it didn't upend anything either.
Important flag about the new polling showing 71% support for requiring a doctor's visit before getting abortion drugs:
this is roughly the same supermajority that supports limiting athletes to playing on teams matching birth sex. (e.g. Gallup polling from '23 & '25 showing 69% support).
In other words: opposition to unfettered access to abortion drugs is becoming a cultural groundswell, as happened w the women's sports issue.
The American people see how dangerous these drugs are - how they are hurting and even killing women; how the lack of regulation allows boyfriends who want to end a pregnancy w/o the mom's consent to surreptitiously drug her - and they do not want this. @US_FDA@MartyMakary you have tons of support, across the political & ideological spectrum, for revisiting the REMs and protecting women.
This morning hundreds of men, including many priests and seminarians, participated in a Eucharistic Procession through the streets of Cincinnati. This two minute video only shows about half the men in the procession.

St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the
wickedness & snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
& do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
& all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen
They just shot Charlie Kirk.
A married young man and father, who stands on college campuses and encourages young people to get married, have children, stop abortion, and simply live a life for God.
I’m praying that he survives.
And I’m praying that this country rises up and ends this.
Since I'm mentioned in this post, I'll respond.
I think two apparently disparate things are true: (1) many, many cradle Catholics are leaving the Church, and (2) an increasing number of young people are converting to Catholicism.
While many reasons can be given for this somewhat strange-looking phenomenon, I think it comes down to each person's experience of Catholicism.
For those who grow up Catholic, their primary experience of the Church is too often the effeminate, non-threatening, and weak Catholicism they experience at their local parish. It offers no solutions to today's problems, and so millions of cradle Catholics reject it each year by leaving the Church.
For non-Catholics, however, their primary experience of the Church is often what they encounter online, which is a more robust, masculine, and traditional Catholicism. This is clearly an antidote to our society's ills, and so many are attracted to it.
So no, Catholicism is not "booming", but I don't think any Catholics think it is. However, something *is* happening, and the sooner Catholics can change the experience at the local parish to something more in line with Catholicism as it's been practiced over the ages, the sooner we can get to a point where the Church is actually booming.
