Today, on Tish’a Be’av - the Jewish day of national mourning - the millennia-long cycle of Jewish tragedy is laid out before us. Last night we read the anguished words of Jeremiah from megillat Eicha as he watched the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem.
This afternoon I will watch October 8 - a film that chronicles the continuing explosion of antisemitism, particularly on North American campuses (available through Prime Video and Apple TV).
@JewishSpaceLazr When I was first in Israel as a 16yr old in the shadow of the Gulf War, I remember seeing a sign on Ben Yehuda advertising a sale on models of the Second Temple: “Act Now before the third temple is built and prices go up!”
Sent one kid back to school at @uofg but kid number 2 is in for a few days from her volunteer year of service in Israel so Chanukah Night 7 is still shining bright both in person and virtually!
