The Trump administration has made their intent clear—student protesters defending Palestinian human rights will be targeted, detained and deported.

Since I became a UNSR, hardly a day passed without Israel's killing at least one Palestinian child. A decades-long tradition that escalated into genocidal acts after Oct'23 (since then, Israel has killed nearly 40 Palestinian children a day).
The silence of the corporate media and political leaders is everyday more deafening. And racist.

If you are feeling sad and hopeless that is completely understandable, but it's also a luxury we can't afford right now. Here's a list of some great organisations helping on the ground, just as a handy guide:
Five years ago today, I was fired from CNN after giving a speech at the United Nations in defense of Palestinian rights. So much about the situation in Israel and Palestine has changed since then. I can’t help but wonder how this “dangerous” speech would have been received now:

Palestinian poet and short story writer Mosab Abu-Toha and speaker at the 2023 Palestine Writes Literature Festival was arrested on November 18 by the IOF. Abu-Toha was fleeing from the North of Gaza along with his wife and three year old son when he was approached by the IOF and told to put his son down and put his arms in the air. He was simply taken by the IOF without being given a reason and has not been heard from since. Abu Toha’s debut poetry book, “Things You May Find Hidden in My Ear,” was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award and won an American Book Award. We demand the immediate release of Mosab and all political prisoners.

The Israeli government is responsible for enforcing an apartheid state and rampantly abusing the rights of Palestinians.
Congress should not be giving a platform to the President of a country that shows no respect for human rights. I will not be attending his joint address.

I covered the first demolition of the school in Jubbet Al-Dib 6 years ago. Israel destroyed the school then, leaving these kids out in the open air. They had their backpacks & school supplies, but no classroom. Activists put up tents in its place, and the army destroyed those too
