Today (27th Nov) all Sikhs celebrate Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji's GurPurab; the worldly birth of the first Guru of the Sikhs.
As millions across the world celebrate, we share this fact card on the first Guru from our sister org, Sikh educational outlet @everythings_13.
Please share!
Today is a special day for the global population of 26 million Sikhs.
We are celebrating the birth of our religion's founder, Guru Nanak dev Ji
Guru Nanak dev Ji spoke about equality at a time caste and gender inequality were ingrained deeply into society.
The values he taught; equality, love, selfless service, human dignity and respect are universal and sewn into the fabric of the Sikh religion, the religion I am very proud to be a member of.
Here's an image painted by the artist, Sobha Singh I found at my family farm in India. Many of the paintings depicting our founding father are iconic and take pride of place on the walls of Sikh homes around the world.
You may not have seen this painting before.
Very best wishes on the most special of days to the global Sikh population and all who are celebrating the day.

From an early age, it was evident that Nanak was an extraordinary child, marked out with divine grace. Blessed with a deeply contemplative mind & rational thinking, young Nanak would astound his elders and teachers with sublimity of his knowledge, particularly on divine matters.
554 years ago, a light named ‘Nanak’ entered this world and orchestrated the meaning of compassion, love, light and all this through Gods name.
May the Gurus light shine so bright into your lives that all darkness disappears.
