WORKABILITY OF CONCRETE
One of the fundamental properties of fresh concrete is its workability, which refers to the ease with which concrete can be mixed, transported, placed, compacted, and finished without segregation or loss of homogeneity.
As Civil Engineering students, we had the opportunity to carry out laboratory experiments on the workability of concrete using the Slump Test and Compaction Factor Test. These tests are essential in determining whether a concrete mix is suitable for a particular construction purpose and whether it can be properly compacted to achieve the desired strength and durability.
Through these practical exercises, we gained hands-on experience in preparing concrete mixes, conducting standard laboratory procedures, recording observations, and interpreting test results.
Experiences like these remind us that engineering is not only about calculations and theories but also about practical application.
