Homophobes will literally tell a gay person to go kill themselves under a “happy pride” post on social media…. And in the same breath say “I don’t understand why they need a whole month?”
Because of YOU , bitch.
It would take far more than a month to honor the contributions of queer and transgender New Yorkers.
From the Cercle Hermaphroditos in 1895, the first trans advocacy group in the United States, to the drag balls of the Harlem Renaissance, to the Stonewall uprising, to the Lesbian Herstory Archives, to ACT UP!, founded in 1987 as queer people fought for their lives while the Reagan administration looked away, New York City's history has long been shaped by queer and trans New Yorkers.
To all our queer and trans neighbors: you deserve a City where you can afford to live safely, openly, and joyfully.
Happy Pride, New York City.
Yall be trying to embrace these bad personalities traits like it’s cool. “I’m so petty” “I get nasty when I argue” okay you’re unregulated. Go talk to someone
When Pink Friday climbed to #1 in its 11th week on the charts, the charts looked like this:
1. ‘Pink Friday’ Nicki Minaj
2. ‘21’ Adele
3. ‘Loud’ Rihanna
4. ‘Sigh No More’ Mumford & Sons
5. ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ Kanye West
Billboard had no choice but to highlight how rare it was at the time for an album to climb a chart like hers did. Nicki had THEN dropped 2 albums by 2012, and Adele was STILL in the Top 5 along with Madonna.
When it comes to competition? Never fix your mouth to say Nicki didn’t have any.
