In ITRE/SEDE we voted in favour of EDIP – a step towards a stronger 🇪🇺 defence. A step towards more european and more together! While the compromise on EDIP could be more balanced, we must face reality – move forward step by step & reach agreement swiftly.

Met with the delegation of the European Parliament within the framework of the Ukraine-EU Parliamentary Association Committee. We discussed key issues for our country and Europe.

🔹 Military support. The EU has already allocated nearly €50 billion in military aid to Ukraine. It is crucial to ensure stable and timely arms deliveries, strengthen air defence, and support Ukraine’s defence industry.

🔹 Financial assistance. The EU has approved €45 billion under the Ukraine Facility. We expect a swift disbursement of funds to support the economy and recovery efforts.

🔹 Sanctions. Further pressure on russia must be increased, particularly in the energy sector, LNG, and against companies that help russia circumvent restrictions.

🔹 EU accession negotiations. Ukraine has met all conditions to open negotiation clusters. We expect this step during Poland’s Presidency of the EU Council.

War on European soil and daily suffering unleashed by Russia is something we cannot become accustomed to. The cost for all of us, the democracies, will be much higher if Russia's aggression is not met with full determination to support Ukraine whatever victory takes.

🇱🇹 celebrates 33rd anniversary of restored Independence. On 11 March 1990 critical decisions were made by brave lithuanians. It marked a fundamental shift in 🇱🇹 history & put 🇱🇹 on a path towards Europe & the family of world’s democratic countries. Our dream was fulfilled!
