But Newfoundland might have opted to join the US after WW2. It wasn’t given the option, but the thread of this did motivate Canada’s willingness to accept Newfoundland into confederation.
@acoyne Michael Collins combined being finance minister for Ireland’s provisional government with being director of intelligence for the IRA and found the latter helped with the former. But that’s probably not the model for a LeBlanc "safe hands" campaign.
