The @foodcoop carries a wide array of yogurts produced from cow, sheep, and goat milks as well as plant-based milks. Yogurt producers usually source dairy from a large number of farms, making animal welfare difficult to track and verify.

An article in The Guardian reported that large grocery retailers in the UK are beginning to change shrimp and prawn sourcing practices after increasing evidence that shrimp and prawn can feel pain.
Takeaways:
🦐Shrimp/prawn are often killed using ice slurry, which may cause prolonged suffering
🦐Evidence increasingly suggests shrimp/prawn can feel pain
🦐Electric stunning: being adopted as a more humane alternative
🦐Retailer standards influence farming/slaughter practices
In July 2025, Switzerland began requiring labels that reveal when animals suffered painful procedures during production of meat, eggs, milk, foie gras, and even frog legs.
🔹Foie gras from force-fed birds must be clearly marked
🔹Applies to retail, restaurants, and small businesses
🔹New ban on fur from cruel practices; violators face prosecution.
Goal: transparency so consumers can make informed choices.
