@_colourmeamused No, it’s pointless and just puts a weird oily layer on your clothes/sheets. I think people like it for towels if you don’t have a dryer but although it makes the towel feel softer it makes it shit at absorbing. Personally I also think it can kinda ruin your clothes
@TheStalwart None, quantum computing doesn’t “prove” the Many Worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics any more than observing other quantum effects does. Can be explained equally well using any interpretation of QM (Many Worlds is pretty niche actually)
@_colourmeamused Oh sorry I missed the word “store” in your first tweet! Yeah totally agree, Overleaf is great because one of the worst things about LaTeX is installing it and the various packages, so I did use it for my thesis, but made a local backup like every day
@beamsontoast I’ve knit on KLM flights (not from Newcastle though) many times and never had an issue. For sure airport security at Amsterdam should be fine
If you are interested in the thermoradiative diode, the "night time solar cell", I highly recommend you check out our latest work where we review the physical process that enable this new class of device!

BREAKING NEWS
The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to award the 2024 #NobelPrize in Physics to John J. Hopfield and Geoffrey E. Hinton “for foundational discoveries and inventions that enable machine learning with artificial neural networks.”
@focusfronting Unfortunately I live in Australia because I would LOVE to do this trade. I really like seaming but hate weaving in ends (currently have two finished sweaters where I just haven’t woven in the ends…)
@focusfronting Impossible for many academics to be normal or have any sort of perspective about their job (I include myself). See also the “Leaving Academia” Industrial Complex
@AliceFromQueens Clicked on this and can see in the replies that this guy is anti-vax as well. Sometimes medical interventions just work really well and there aren’t any major downsides! People should be happy about this but instead it makes them furious
@focusfronting Part of me always want to get defensive about this as a native Dutch speaker, but I have to admit there are actually just a lot of really funny words and names in Dutch
@cain151714@RuxandraTeslo I just disagree with Rux that that is somehow disempowering me (actually this standard has worked great for me up to this point!)
@cain151714@RuxandraTeslo yes, it's a tweet, not an essay, I was going with the example about economic policy. My point is that I think Trump is a terrible person who runs on policies I don't like, and I don't want to build a life with someone who agrees with him, because it would cause too much conflict.
@RuxandraTeslo .. the same standard as me, I don’t care, but for me it would feel incredibly dis-empowering to be with someone who is fine with a man who doesn’t think of women as people being President 🤷🏻♀️
@RuxandraTeslo … care more about how much tax they have to pay or whatever, and I find both of those unacceptable for a partner because they indicate a very fundamental difference in our values. I don’t see how having that standard is disempowering? I’m not saying everyone has to have …
