@Starks43@Steve_Byk @ChrisDewey_ @NTRA@derby1592@richnilsen Two quick responses to your issues. On NHC site there is a detailed explanation of takeout. You can always futz with numbers, but looks like 12.12%, less than takeout on most win bets. Also, it is not an inexpensive endeavor running NHC.
@Starks43@Steve_Byk @ChrisDewey_ @NTRA@derby1592@richnilsen Most committee members enjoy talking to players. They all love the game. I talk to lots of players who have questions at tournaments. Many issues, like some you raised, have no easy answers. They do the best they can
@Steve_Byk @ChrisDewey_ @Starks43@NTRA@derby1592@richnilsen All pretty much just try to qualify. If one or two are lucky enough to win a contest or two early, they might play to finish high on the tour. Mostly they just want to qualify
@Steve_Byk @ChrisDewey_ @Starks43@NTRA@derby1592@richnilsen There is really not much head butting. Just players with a lot of experience in playing all types of tournaments all over the country giving their opinions to the NTRA regarding numerous issues usually when asked.
@loomsboldly Early race picks should usually be the same for both types of contests, but PnPs picks are based on who u like + assumed odds + value. Live picks based on who u like + value + contest standing/circumstance+ actual odds. $2 behind warrants different late plays than $20 behind.
@NTamm1215 Years ago, players who lived near tracks that held multiple tournaments or were easily able to travel, as my good friends JK and Maven could, had big advantage. Still hard. Different game now. More even field. Winning Tour is much more difficult and stressful than winning NHC.
If Tommy had not played those exactas... he would have won. Or if the horse paid 6.6-1 instead of 6.5-1, he also would have won. And if the 1 had held on by a nose, Tony would have won... (20/21)
Thanks everyone for the congrats. I got a couple of good head bobs. Thanks again to Woodbine. They always run a great tournament. For any horseplayer that hasn’t been there, you should go. Beautiful track. 10 minutes from airport. And best contest food hands down!
@Down_StretchSXM Not to mention that there’s much less traffic driving downstate on Monday nights as opposed to Sunday. About 4 1/2 hour trip instead of 7. Used to be my main reason for staying through Monday card. Also, always leave track early Sunday to try to beat at least some traffic
Thanks everyone for the congrats. This one was a true collaborative effort by the Shurman brothers, something we don’t usually so well at, but this time it worked out
Monmouth Pick Your Prize today! One of the best and most popular NHC qualifiers. Nice tweek this year adding cash to the top NHC and BCBC prizes. People will have real choices to make. And where else will just doubling your bankroll get u NHC spot?@NTRA@pshurm
@CarsoniPH I don’t understand why I have yet to see this angle on tv. If I had seen this right after the race i would have thought the horse had to come down, instead of thinking he wouldn’t. @phurm@ntra
