My nearest bakery shop opens every 1st of January at 6:30 am.
The kiosk below my house opens 360 days a year.
I see the same cook daily outside the restaurant below (smoking after finishing the day) serving 300–500 meals per day in that restaurant Mon–Sun.
And I know many great portuguese entrepreneurs working very hard.
The point being the State takes a big chunk? That's true. More than they should.

The goal should not be to grind, lock in, develop social skills etc, not until you reach high energy anyway
With high energy everything becomes much easier
You can practice all you want your social skills. If you don’t have high energy, it will feel awkward and non spontaneous
And that’s why a guy in his 80s who never cared one bit about optimisation will just come around and naturally flow conversations better than you
You can sit in your laptop for 10 hours in a row. If you don’t have high energy, the output will be almost meaningless compared to a energetic person with discipline
The only thing you should be optimising is energy. All the rest is irrelevant if you don’t have energy bandwidth to begin with

No amount of fancy quinoa, whole grains etc comes close to it. Pure clean fuel.
There’s a reason Thai farmers eat kilos of rice daily and are still lean & energetic
Added sardines back into my diet after 3years of avoiding them because I thought they were PUFA bombs BUT they’re actually quite low (like egg yolks)
What they are is a NUTRITIONAL BOMB. Calcium, collagen, B vits, selenium, vit D &cheap as chips!
Criminally underrated superfood
Hey, here’s my tips:
Restaurants: Adega Dom Luís, Casa dos Passarinhos, Verde Gaio… all good Portuguese food
Cowork/Cafes: Tribe IRL for cowork and network is cool, Copenhagen Coffee Lab, Honest Greens is cool to be in your vibe
Places: Estrela Garden/Basilica da Estrela, Praça das flores at night for a drink, Carcavelos/Guincho/Praia Grande/Caparica for beach (Carcavelos is train reachable, others not but are so beautiful). Sintra is cool as well.

All you need to thrive is:

- Beef and Fish
- EVOO and Butter
- Apples, Oranges and Bananas
- Carrots
- Salt
That’s literally it. No special tropical fruits and no fancy seeds that irritate your gut
