@TannersTrades Got in $GEV at $1,000 right before it started to dive, held because I feel like itโs a company that I just have to own long-term, up ~11% now
Will this $GEV position end up transitioning into your long-term port or will you eventually look for an exit?
@JamesTrvdes No one talks about this. Much harder than controlling the downside, but essential for real portfolio growth.
I happen to know a group that could help anyone execute this (cough cough* the foundry) and itโs the perfect time to lock in with that specific group of guys.
Iโve been sitting on hands and adding to a long-term portfolio (multi-year holdings) to stay active
Some people (like my guy James) have still been able to kill it in the themes that have been holding up, specific names like $TSEM, $GLW, $LITE, etc.
Itโs been tempting to tail and get more active in the trading account, but conditions are tricky and I wasnโt already positioned in the leaders. Staying extremely engaged, but just being careful (maybe a bit too careful). Excited to get more active when the environment improves.
Kudos to you! Knock out those student loans as fast as possible. Many people will say to carry them if theyโre at a low rate and arbitrage, but having 0 debt is a game changer for practical decision making, monthly cash flow, and how much risk you can take for your future.
Plus, the peace of having no consumer debt is priceless.
Youโre a beast bro donโt be discouraged. This is a hard market to trade for swing traders.
For me, Iโve found that futures can be a good tool when volatility and daily ranges pick up. However, my personality just doesnโt mesh with day trading and constantly placing trades. Doesnโt fit well in my career and is more stressful for me.
It may be a good option for you as long as your trading personality aligns with the futures market (you can swing futures too, itโs just a different dynamic). Otherwise, make sure to give yourself a break and know what environments are conducive to your system. Nothing wrong with waiting weeks or even months before taking your next trade if it will protect your equity curve.
Better conditions will come my friend!
