@SpeakerJohnson Millions of Americans who are communicating inside the US are getting swept up in the FISA dragnet and then the Federal government can access these communications without a warrant under this law.
It should absolutely be made illegal without a warrant to access this database to search for the communications of an American Citizen who was communicating from US soil. The fact that this gaping loophole in FISA still exists and is being actively exploited by government agents is chilling.
@SenTomCotton@LeaderJohnThune Republicans need to come to their senses and enact the simple reform of requiring a warrant for US citizens inside the United States. Post 9-11 emergency powers that are in direct violation of our 4th amendment rights should either be allowed to finally expire or be reformed.
@SenateGOP@SenTomCotton No.
No spying on US citizens inside the United States without a warrant.
Unless there is that simple reform then section 702 should be allowed to finally expire
I thought California's stand against voter ID was more broadly principled? Nope.

@PatrickHeizer The Federal government has been deficit spending since World War II.
If the Federal government decides to stop deficit spending just to stiff seniors out of the retirement money they have been saving for decades of paying social security taxes, then it will be World War III.
Social Security needs to be bolstered not gutted with so-called "reforms" like raising the retirement age until more people are dead.
The Federal government borrows money to rain money down on partisan special interests. We can borrow as much as is needed to pay for debts owed to seniors.
Social security guarantees need to be strengthened. Social Security is not a welfare program, it is a retirement program that has apparently been looted by Congress. Nevertheless it is a debt to our seniors that should not be defaulted on. People pay in to their accounts and they should get all that money back plus at least 7% interest.

Or just borrow the money to pay our social security debts like the rest of the Federal government does.
It is absurd to think the Federal government should default on the debt to our seniors rather than borrow money to cover the short fall.
At a minimum seniors should be getting their money back plus 7% annual interest to call it even.
@WesleyHuntTX I want to live and I want my children and grandchildren to live in a nation where race is not used to discriminate for or against a person
Either use the land as intended and legally required to be by deed or return the land (or money) to the family that donated the land.

More "perfect" than humans is the point.
If you treat people as a baseline for safety then you have an engineering spec which can be improved upon.
While there are certainly edge cases which we would find unacceptable to field a system with known defects, at some point the mathematical certainty of saving tens of thousands of lives is compelling.
