The demand for a 5 Day Work Week in banks is not new. It already stands agreed upon in the Bipartite Settlement of March 2024. What remains is its long-pending implementation.

At the same time, the unilateral and discriminatory PLI system must be abolished and replaced with a fair, transparent and inclusive framework for all employees, recognising the collective effort behind every institution’s performance.

Hardworking bank employees are not asking for privilege. They are asking for implementation of an agreement and equality in reward.

A motivated banking workforce strengthens Indian banking and the nation.

द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध के दौरान असम रेजिमेंट के राइफलमैन बदलूराम जापानी सेना से लड़ते हुए वीरगति को प्राप्त हुए। उनकी शहादत के बाद उनका नाम राशन रजिस्टर से नहीं हटाया गया। जब जापानी सैनिकों से बटालियन चारों ओर से घिर गई और बाहरी आपूर्ति पूरी तरह बंद हो गई, तब बदलूराम के नाम पर मिलने वाला अतिरिक्त राशन ही सैनिकों के जीवित रहने का सहारा बना।

इसी अद्भुत घटना और वीर बदलूराम की स्मृति को अमर बनाने के लिए मेजर एम. टी. प्रॉक्टर ने यह प्रसिद्ध रेजिमेंटल गीत रचा, जो आज भी असम रेजिमेंट के शौर्य, त्याग और साथीभाव का प्रतीक है।

कमीशन किंग्स का जश्न और असली बैंकरों का घुटता हुआ सच

इस तस्वीर में बीच में खड़े हैं @TheOfficialSBI इलाहाबाद मंडल के DGM पवन अरोड़ा और चेक देते हुए दिखाई दे रहे हैं RBO 1 के RM स्वदेश श्रीवास्तव।

यह जश्न SBI Life के जनवरी महीने के टारगेट का है जहाँ RBO 1 द्वारा लगभग 16.5 करोड़ का इंश्योरेंस बिजनेस किया गया है।

📸 मंच पर तालियाँ हैं मुस्कान है और जश्न है। लेकिन जमीन पर कई अधिकारी कहते हैं कि माहौल डर दबाव और अपमान से भरा हुआ है।

RM स्वदेश श्रीवास्तव रोज सुबह 10 बजे से 12 बजे तक प्रोफेशनल रिव्यू मीटिंग्स नहीं बल्कि प्रेशर सेशन ले रहे हैं जिसमे उनका टारगेट केवल और केवल SBILife होता है। इन मीटिंग्स में अपमानजनक भाषा, व्यक्तिगत टिप्पणियाँ और सार्वजनिक फटकार अब सामान्य बात हो गई है। इन मीटिंग्स में इंश्योरेंस न बेचने के लिए चीफ मैनेजरों तक को नीचा दिखाया जाता है और छुट्टी पर गई महिला ब्रांच मैनेजरों से भी असम्मानजनक तरीके से सवाल किए जाते हैं।

⚠️ रीजनल स्तर पर कुछ पसंदीदा लोगों का एक मजबूत समूह बनाया गया है जो दिनभर ब्रांचों पर दबाव बनाता है जिससे प्रोफेशनल माहौल की जगह डर और प्रताड़ना का वातावरण बन रहा है।

💰 गंभीर चिंताएँ यह भी उठ रही हैं कि बैंक के कोर डिपॉजिट को आक्रामक रूप से SBI Life और म्युचुअल फंड में धकेला जा रहा है जबकि CASA रेश्यो गिर रहा है। और जब CASA गिरता है तो ब्रांच मैनेजरों को ही धमकाया और दोषी ठहराया जाता है।

अब सवाल देश को खुद से पूछना चाहिए
क्या यह ग्राहक और बैंकिंग पर केंद्रित संस्थान है
या कमीशन की दौड़ में अपने ही अधिकारियों को कुचलने वाली मशीन

यह नेतृत्व नहीं बल्कि संस्थान की जड़ों को कमजोर करने वाली संस्कृति है।
जब इंश्योरेंस नंबर बैंकिंग की नींव से ऊपर हो जाएँ
जब सम्मान की जगह डर ले ले और जब दबाव रोजमर्रा की कार्यसंस्कृति बन जाए तो एक सार्वजनिक बैंक की नींव अंदर से दरकने लगती है।

यदि इन ग्राउंड लेवल आरोपों का एक हिस्सा भी सही है तो तुरंत स्वतंत्र जाँच की आवश्यकता है। क्योंकि कल जब CASA गिरेगा ग्राहक भरोसा खोएंगे और अधिकारी टूटेंगे तब जिम्मेदारी ग्राउंड स्टाफ पर नहीं बल्कि उस नेतृत्व पर होगी जिसने टारगेट के नाम पर भय की संस्कृति बनाई।

कर्मचारी गुलाम नहीं हैं
अधिकारी पंचिंग बैग नहीं हैं
बैंकिंग कोई इंश्योरेंस दलाली नहीं है

अब बहुत हुआ डर
अब बहुत हुआ अपमान

India is 100% digital… but bankers are still working on a 1995 timetable.

UPI runs 24×7. ATMs work 365 days.
Digital payments never sleep —
only bankers are expected to.

🔹 90% routine banking is mobile & UPI, yet humans follow a 6-day “legacy protocol.”
🔹 Cash counters dropped by 60–70%, but pressure didn’t get the memo.
🔹 Technology upgraded instantly; human recharge time is still “under review.”
🔹 A 6-day week fuels burnout and fatigue — clearly not the smartest digital upgrade.
🔹 5-Day Banking saves thousands of crores, but rest is still treated as a premium feature.

The irony is that India built a lightning-fast digital economy but forgot to update the humans running it.

The simple truth is bankers are asking for 5-Day Banking not for comfort, but because humans — unlike machines — need a restart.
