So excited to be able to share this with everyone from tomorrow. Dekker argues we need to leave the Cartesian-Newtonian viewpoint. I propose an alternative perspective to understand the complexity of modern risk management #quantumsafety https://t.co/vkEm4LnQjb
So Threads is lovely but niche. Like the little hipster place big on foraged food. Concerned about the bare knuckle fight that is this platform. So shall see if the BlueSky world is a nice ale and an open fire kind place I hope for! See you there!
I’ll be @paulstrettonsafety
Interested in #justculture ? Here is a playlist of a series of conversations Ive had on all aspects of #justculture The recent one looks at #restorativejustculture and offers a more balanced perspective than typically found in safety. Enjoy!

The home of @ExeterChiefs, @SandyParkExeter, will host our next event INTERACTIONS (March 2025).
Sandy Park is easily accessible by bike, bus, train, foot, and car. If you have any questions about the space, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Just over five months to go!
@howdoyoufika Thanks Christina. Hope you enjoy the series. For an expert such as yourself it will be familiar, but hopefully useful arguments for influencing others. Tony knows his stuff too so was great talking to him about all this.
Our March 2025 conference, INTERACTIONS, is intentionally curated to provide an overarching journey.
Do you have your ticket yet?

This series will introduce some of the key themes around the Just Culture space.
This is the first one. We start at the very beginning and discuss why it is so important that we challenge fear and blame in the workplace.
For people interested in challenging blame and fear cultures.
I've had the pleasure of several chats with Tony discussing #Just Culture. Tony has both a legal and safety background and works with organisations looking to develop a Just Culture…

*breaking* I shall be available independently whilst working in healthcare from now on. Should anyone be interested in #PSIRF training and support, or Human Factors and Patient Safety training I’m here to help.
Had a great trip to Abu Dhabi last week speaking at SPE Safety Conference about my work on #justculture
Interesting to understand how different industries are approaching safety culture.
Also lots of love for my book ☺️
@AmyCEdmondson Athletes know most times they will fail when perform under pressure. Only exceptions (like Tiger) don’t for any period.
So how do we feel about this mindset for a surgeon or pilot?
England’s Euros defeat underscores the need for smart talent ID in sports. Shane Battier’s NBA “Catalyst Effect” shows hidden strengths can boost team performance. Leaders must find these "Lego players."

@SuzetteWoodward I think this is really important (and something I’ve been writing about recently). I found this from Restorative Justice experts post Breivik. Important nuance I feel lost when translating into safety where it’s been reduced to sides to take not balances to strike.
This is a really interesting project- great work. As part of @MedledTeam love to see systems thinking, human factors and appreciation of complexity in work. Also delighted to see my #justculture work having a positive impact too 👏
@SASHChiefNurse @sashnhs@MedledTeam Thanks! My genuine pleasure. There’s already been a lot of work done and great to see such supportive senior leadership keen to facilitate PSIRF and the broader cultural shift. 👍
@janekohara@QualityForum “Zero avoidable” an absolute determinist mindset laced with hindsight not congruent with complex adaptive systems. “Harm” is highly subjective in healthcare. As a strap line it’s not debatable. As a goal when understanding the messy reality- flawed at best.
Warmed up, digitised Taylorism failed to explain complex system performance. Shock.
Concerning at such a level decisions being abdicated to data in such a way. Context changes everything.
Leeds United were confident Jesse Marsch would be a natural fit after Marcelo Bielsa.
Stats told them their styles were very similar/ players would transition.
But it didn’t work out at all.
