"The Light Spreading Across Senku and Circles of Confusion"
When dust is present on a lens, scattered light can create circles of confusion around the dust particles.
In practical terms, this effect indicates that the lens is not in ideal condition.
However, in modern filmmaking, this effect was once added to CG footage to make it feel as though it had been filmed through a real camera lens.
I think it’s a technique used to give CG images a sense of reality, as if they were captured through an actual lens.
When I depict circles of confusion caused by dust on a lens, I do so with the feeling that “This moment is real.
I want it to feel real.”
Like stars reflected in the eyes, this is one of my signature techniques for manga visual effects, reserved for moments of particular significance.
