yes beautiful.
And colossians 1:15 also establishes this
“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.”
of all created things, he was the firstborn. God created his Son first. Then through the son created everything else.
“yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.” 1 cor 8:6
yea I didnt take that from what hes told me at all. He actually said there are good stories in the BOM. I did ask him
about his faith and he let me know he doesnt believe but the whole time he was very supportive of my own faith journey. Dont worry I will draw my own conclusions but what you’re accusing him of here isnt true
It doesn’t say that Jesus is the creator tho. read 1 cor 8:6. God the Father created all things. He did it through Christ. But the power to create originates with the Father. Not the son.
As far as John 1. It doesn’t say Jesus was God. It says the Word was God. If you look at the two greek words for God in John 1:1, they are slightly different words. They are different cases of Theos. The second God is in the nominative form. Its describing the nature of “the Word”. A better translation would be Godly or Divine.
Read John 20:30-31. John summarizes why he wrote his gospel- what he hopes the reader will take away from his account.
“30 Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book.
31 But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”
trinitarians read that and still say “see Jesus is God”!
How? How do you willfully ignore so much scripture without asking any questions whatsoever? John is literally saying what he wants you to believe and he doesn’t say Jesus is God. He says he is the Son of God. But it just gets ignored because of some creed written 300 years after Jesus by a Roman Governor? Cmon bro
“Trinitarians are christians”
Anyone who rejects the one God of the bible is not a christian. Calling Jesus God is polytheism.
1 Corinthians 8:6 (ESV):
“yet for us there is ONE God, the FATHER, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.”
theres your bible ⬆️
The trinity states they are co-equal not only in nature but also that they both equally possess intrinsic power, authority, and knowledge. Intrinsic meaning it doesnt need to be granted, given, or received- they already have it.
And this is incorrect scripturally. The Father is the greater, preeminent being. Its why Jesus calls Him his God. Jesus is Lord. He deserves all praise honor and submission from me. But calling him God the same way I call the Father God as if they are equal is a violation of scripture and my conscience. I prefer to call Christ the divine only begotten Son of God, Lord, Savior etc.
@Levis_Momm@TaylorRMarshall “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
Thats what I believe, I believe it because its Gods word.
How do you believe people get saved and why do you believe it?
@TheMuppetPastor “Constantine, a Roman Governor, decided what christian means to me 300 years after christ ascended and therefore you arent it”
ok cool- is it in the bible?
“well no not really but its in the creed that Constantine approved so yea it must be true”
yea thats incoherent. im not going to try to guess at what you mean by any of that.
Hes the only begotten Son of God. Hes called the son of God 68 times.
He doesnt call himself God once nor does God call christ God once.
verses youve quoted are sloppy work. Bad translations or overt twisting of scripture. Study up. Compare translations.
@voosiki Wow I never saw Prov 8 like that… verse 22 possessed can be translated ‘create’
this would be in concert with Colossians 1:15 where christ is the firstborn of all created beings.
God created christ first. Then the universe through him? (1 cor 8:6)
“christ is the Son of God” “But God and his Son are the same age”. “That age is eternal”. “The Father is eternally begetting the son”. “Like at all moments forever the son is coming out of the Father”
Ok, cool show me this in scripture?
“just dont think about it too much, its a mystery”
You have some scriptural problems to solve then friend.
Jesus says he is the son of God. And he says God is his God.
So God has a God??
John 20:17 — “I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.”
Matt 16:15-16– He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God (christ confirms).
Jesus making the same I AM statement that God made in Exodus doesnt necessitate him being God. Christ being Gods son also fits just fine. Fathers and sons share names.
colossians 1:15
Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature;”
christ was made first.
the Father is the eternal, preeminent being. First thing he creates/begets is his Son. Then through his son, the Father creates all things (universe, spiritual realm etc)
1 Corinthians 8:6 (ESV):
“yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.”
this is why Jesus can say before Abraham was, I AM. He was the firstborn of all created things.
Sons were real in the Jewish world. Fathers definitely had sons and the word son meant then what it means now. Jesus really was formed in Marys womb. His biological father really was God. He really was Gods only begotten son. They were one in nature/essence the same way a human father and son share a nature or essence. he was also his actual son. Both of those things can be true.
Also once you become a father yourself you learn unequivocally that its a greater loss/sacrifice to have to sacrifice your own son than it would be to die yourself.
Jesus is the son of God, perfectly expressing/manifesting his Father God to us. This doesnt diminish the closeness or humility of God by saying he sent his son. If anything it amplifies it. He So loved the world that he sent his only begotten son…
@aztjk35@voosiki The son is the scepter of righteousness in this verse. This is a direct quote of Psalms but the part specifically referring to the Son is the “scepter of righteousness”
@D_anterror@TaylorRMarshall a non denominational christian is simply someone that subscribes to the biblical definition of christianity and doesnt feel the need to further delineate
