@SSN_UCF No- the right move would have been to enact a year from now and NOT include the 2026 college grades OR current rising seniors. High school 26s are coming in, 27s are already commited. They’ve just started 28 recruiting. That’s where the room was for this new model.
@Hanohanoboy@heitner Exactly! Everyone gets the short stick somewhere for something- can’t make everyone happy. So the ncaa makes sure EVERYONE is unhappy! 🤣
@ImCollegeSoccer Have never understood why. Barring multiple injuries paired with multiple YNT call ups, can’t see where a college team would be down to a precariously low number of players
@WinterSportsLaw Also-this shouldn’t even go into effect this year and should go in effect a year from now to let the coaches plan recruiting/rosters. Same as the roster rule 2 years ago. Should have had a year to plan.
@WinterSportsLaw Oh please- how about the 2027s getting their verbal commits pulled, how about the kids that got an extra covid year and it affected kids behind them? None of it is fair.
@IHateSoccerPod Really sad. And especially sad when kids leave one club to another but they have to fear not getting playing time with the remaining fans/showcase at their currently club.
@ImCollegeSoccer I wonder if ncaa will flip it… visits start in June, commits can’t happen until August. Prob not . If schools can get away offering without paying for a visit, they’d rather that. Esp if they can save official visit for the recruiting class to come altogether
@ImCollegeSoccer Sad - it takes away from the kids’ chance for multiple official visits to see campuses and meet coaching staffs. If it’s THE school the kid wants, great, but for those that don’t know, kinda stinks. Esp if they don’t have money to travel there themselves to do their own recon.
@American_Dad_NW@ImCollegeSoccer I just said this to someone. The new rules are condensing the talent. P4 can’t just hoard players any longer. Those quality players that hung on to the bottom of the roster (but are still strong players) will get to shine somewhere.
@American_Dad_NW@ImCollegeSoccer This is true. I can see where it’s tempting to jump with the current climate. My player was extremely lucky a year ago to have a school offer her almost immediately but allowed her WEEKS to decide.
@ImYouthSoccer I NEVER understood how this makes sense. Visits should start in June and then you
should be able to sign that November. Not 16 months later
@ImYouthSoccer So of the 80% GA players that commit to play in college, they’re saying that 48% of THOSE players play d1. Not sure if those number add up better with yours 🤷♀️
@mlycan12 To reiterate, Landon Donovan—US youth soccer is broken. Glad to see a step toward consolidation, but any progress will take years. I suppose I should be glad I have one more year, and then my second is out of club and into the squeaky clean, easy world of the NCAA. 🫠
