I can’t help but feel anger at what I’m reading. I feel like you think the not being a moral protector guide thing is a choice and in some ways it is.
I just wish I understood how to do what you say.
I find it annoying because here you are pointing out something that we all see without actually providing any actual route to the answer.
I know you don’t have all the answers but you do make it seem like you have some sort of ancestral inherited knowledge.
I pray to god that you’ll share your secrets or I’ll be illuminated but telling people what to do without a how is kind of annoying.
It’s like yes I want to be the best me I can be for myself and those around me but how?
It probably has to do with how much people see themselves mirrored in Rudeus and aren’t able to accept those parts of themselves.
You also have to look at the reality that a lot of people feel envy and jealousy towards Rudeus because he represents someone who is successful with women. Someone who is just like if not worse than them.
There’s also the aspect of self hate where certain people see themselves as unworthy of love and therefore don’t want to see proof otherwise of a story telling them they are worthy of love and empathy.
You’re right I got the timeline and lives thing off. I embellished it and that was wrong of me.
I definitely let my need to be right and forgetfulness overrule.
You’re right he definitely put in the effort to train and take advantage of his new life.
I don’t know but I think I still disagree with the golden child thing. Okay yeah I reread it. It’s not that he didn’t put in the effort. It’s that he’s not a loser in his new life he has loads of love and support.
My disagreement was that he’s not building from his state where he was once a loser.
He’s building from a clean slate where no one knows his past life and the way he was.
Yes he did work hard and used his past life’s advantages.
I don’t know if he earned it especially when you consider the huge advantages he has. Him having the soul and memories of his past life and a future version of him dropping some notes and future advice.
That being said I think it’s a beautiful thing that so many people are able to see themselves in Rudeus and his struggles, that’s why so many people find him so polarizing. I think it’s so good that people are choosing to see Rudeus as someone worthy of love and beauty and in turn believing they themselves are.
@JackOfFaces I love that you brought this up.
I’d been forgetting over and over again to ask grok why Prometheus was punished and why no one came to save him. He gave us such a gift.
I’ve come to realize this world is a mirror world.
I project myself on others and am only able to see in them the things I have in myself.
As a child I would try to fix and change people.
“You should do this, you should do that”
As I grew older I recognized that the flaws I saw in the other person were my own internal gripes that I needed to work on.
As I worked on them and less so tried to physically change something outside of the basics. (Chores, eat well, train well, and sleep well.)
More so the hard internal work of sitting with myself and observing what I truly am.
Things about life became less painful like I needed to help fix others. When there was nothing wrong with them.
The reason they irked me so much was because there was a lesson that needed to be learned.
Instead of trying to cause change outside all you need to do is recognize yourself in the other.
Yes you’re right it is trying to be a story about rehabilitation and being given multiple chances. If I remember correctly he has multiple timelines where he fails and he returns to the past to tell his past self to make better choices.
Yes as long as you’re alive you can make something positive with your life.
My issue with Rudeus and the story is that he has flash backs to his old life in Japan where people reached out to him but he rejected them.
It’s also that in his new life’s he isn’t a loser he the gifted golden child who receives adoration praise and validation from people he deems worthy. Like mutiple attractive women and super competent men.
It reads as though he hasn’t changed as a person and more like he wants someone attractive to validate him.
I’d say to better show what you say the story is trying to be. A story of rehabilitation and second chances. It would be better if he returned to his mundane world before he transmigrated and made changes there. Or perhaps he finds someone who was like him in his past life and stayed with them to rehabilitate them.
It’s beautiful to show empathy and kindness to someone that needs it.
I don’t have the proper words but this man below says it so well.

@WastelandJiin@Leaflit You bring up a good point.
Honestly I’m not sure 😁 it’s been such a long time since I read the story.
I’m definitely forgetting and misremembering things.
Go to your local Lowe’s or any home improvement store. Go to the garden section and get a liquid fly trap they’ll fly inside and live out the rest of their lives inside the bag or bottle.
Or a sticky fly trap wrap a bucket with it and the flys will get stuck and live out the rest of their sorry lives on it.
I like that you’re making face and own up to things I may have gotten wrong. You’re a kind and genuine person.
In time, I’m uncertain and I want to make sure to give you a proper response.
I forget that other people are living lives outside of this and I want to honor you as best I can given you took the time to be here.
