@SimpleAIuser@mythsbaby France, Germany, USA, etc, aren’t really in a position to return the Parthenon Marbles, though. The UK is.
Also, France, Germany, USA, etc, should return the artifacts they’ve stolen.
@DMagats@LadyChrissy60@RoyaNikkhah @Sistah_Space While it may not have been intended to be malice, part how we counter racism is by identifying it
BP deserves to be criticized here; after 5 years of accusations of racism issues, that there are people working for the family who don’t realize that this is racism is pretty bad
@mafiozo693@LadyChrissy60@RoyaNikkhah @Sistah_Space If someone says “I was born in the UK” and you respond “but where are you really from” you are being a problematic person.
There are many ways to ask someone what their heritage is (often using the word “heritage”) that aren’t offensive. This wasn’t that.
@LadyChrissy60@RoyaNikkhah @Sistah_Space That is not what remotely close to happened here though.
It isn’t inherently a problem to go “where are you from” or (even better) “what’s your heritage”, but to be told “here” and continue to ask is the problem.
Assuming someone isn’t from “here” because their BIPOC is racism
@LadyChrissy60@RoyaNikkhah @Sistah_Space Assuming a BIPOC person can’t be from your country because they’re BIPOC, then doubling down on the “but where are you really from” is racist behaviour. You might not be aware of it, but it’s still racism.
@btrwkart @geekgirldiva Jury rigged is a reference to a Middle English nautical term “Jory sailing” which meant improvised sailing. Jory probably comes from Old French (jour/day or ajuire/help).
Jerry rigged/built, predates the British slang term for Germans, but the origins of Jerry are unknown
@ek_johnston Thank you! I can’t imagine how hard that is for you and I hope at some time it’s able to come into fruition as Aetherbound was such an amazing book.
@Caeso_K Either
- M doesn’t know how it works and was manipulated into a misunderstanding (by someone in the palace)
- M explained it better, but it got an edit to be more click bait
- M misrepresented the story to make the royals look bad (which I don’t think she did intentionally)
@Caeso_K Ugh… this is so much more complicated than Twitter limits allow.
Her words in this clip are correct.
This clip is still misleading. The implications being made are not entirely correct - which I don’t think was M’s intent. There is more to how it works than what is said here.
@Caeso_K Just like how the palace cannot prevent H from being The Duke of Sussex, they could not have prevented Archie from being Earl Dumbarton.
The truth (for titles) is likely somewhere in between H&M deciding and a unilateral palace decision. That or someone manipulated H&M
@Caeso_K The Queen issued a statement when the Wedsexes married because it went against convention. She issued LPs before George was born, because she was changing the titles. She didn’t issue a statement for other grandchildren/great-grandchildren, they went along with convention
@Caeso_K@royal_suitor I like to give H&M the benefit of the doubt, and think that what we’ve heard said was a condensed version of what happened made for a quicker sound bite and audience that doesn’t get titles. That sound bite doesn’t align with how titles/styles work
@Caeso_K@royal_suitor That’s where I think the bad editing came into play. There was a bit about M talking about how Archie wouldn’t be a Prince, which was the Queen’s decision. That doesn’t mean it was the Queen’s decision for him to use no titles - the titles/styles were automatic
@Hopey_70@royal_suitor I don’t, I can only make guesses based on what they’ve done. I would have no problem with them using titles. They’re entitled to it. I don’t think they will because it doesn’t align with what they’ve done in the past, but they could surprise us
