Our pubs, restaurants, cafes, hotels, nightclubs and many more, are at the heart of our communities.
They bring people together and bring life to our cities, towns and villages, but they're under huge pressure from rising costs.
In the UK, you pay one of the highest VAT rates in Europe. 20% extra in VAT for your pint, meal out or stay away. In France, Spain and Italy, it's 10%. In Germany? 7%.
Our message to Government is simple. Let's stand together to say VAT at 10% is fair for hospitality.

If Rachel Reeves had reached out to Hospitality we could have helped with her Great British Summer project. Instead of 5% VAT on kids meals we would have offered them for free in exchange of VAT being reduced to 10% not the 5% she has offered on kids meals.

Thank you @HuddlestonNigel for raising hospitality job losses.
“This has led to 100,000 job loses in the UK in hospitality and tourism alone over the last two years.”
Hospitality provides first jobs, entry level jobs and jobs everywhere.
Gov’t must protect jobs, not add more taxes.

This week we have seen fruit and veg prices jump by 150% in some products. We have NMW going up this week, Business rates hikes of upto 500% and energy prices are going through the roof. Let it be clear! HOSPITALITY NEEDS A VAT CUT! AND NEED IT NOW.
They have gone because of the disastrous Budget.
Because of the NI increase operators are having to cut both staff and hours.
The Saturday job in a pub/restaurant is becoming a thing of the past.

"A reduction in VAT is the biggest thing that would save hospitality."
Thanks to @ChefTomKerridge for highlighting on @bbcquestiontime how the UK's VAT rate is an outlier compared to our competitors.
That's why we have been calling for a lower rate of VAT for hospitality.
Watching @ChefTomKerridge on @bbcquestiontime I felt quite emotional.
So clear on the importance of hospitality and the harm being done.
And he’s right. A VAT cut in line with Europe would fix it.
