Behavior analysts: hypothetical constructs and explanatory fictions are bad.

But we love to reify “rules” - rule GOVERNED behavior.

Following a rule is a behavior in unto itself. Try ‘rule following’ instead - it doesn’t violate our own rules.

@BxPoli I tend to agree on general that a machine can behave - see Data. However, I’m not sure the word organism lends to machines.

Time to change the definition! What other criteria are missing? MOs? I suppose you could program it… (just like natural selection).

But is it truly operant? Behavior emitted by an organism (based on existing structure) on which the environment must operate. But does it? What is the Sr for the system? It’s darn close to meeting all criteria if not there!

@BxPoli Do we assume it’s actually behavior? ‘Interaction between an organism and the environment’ - maybe? But is the AI system an organism? I wouldn’t say so, yet. So the answer to your question is that it’s not bx. By definition.
