On 18 September 1984, Jimmy Page and Paul Rodgers completed the mixes for The Firm’s self-titled debut album at Sol Studios in Cookham, Berkshire. The sessions wrapped tracks including “Closer,” “Make or Break,” “Someone to Love,” “Together,” “Radioactive,” “Money Can’t Buy,” and “Satisfaction Guaranteed.” Recording had taken place at the same studio earlier that year. The album was released in February 1985 and marked Page’s first major studio project after Led Zeppelin. Page later said the band helped pull him back into making music after John Bonham’s death.

🎼With George Harrison and Art Garfunkel looking on, she performed “That’s the Way I’ve Always Heard It Should Be” with breathtaking sincerity.
No flashy techniques. No need to dazzle.
Just a voice of pure authenticity that speaks straight to the heart. ✨
Everybody watches Plant cry. I watch the drummer.
Ann Wilson’s vocal. The choir. The balcony. All of that is in the clip. What gets me is the kit at the back.
John Bonham died in 1980 and took the band with him. Thirty-two years later his son walks out at the Kennedy Center in his father’s bowler hat and sits in the only seat that was never filled. When Jason finally opens up the drums, it doesn’t sound like a cover finding its climax. It sounds like a pulse coming back into a room that had learned to live without it.
That’s when the strings and the choir stop being decoration. They’re the size of the absence.
I don’t think Plant was only crying at the song. I think he was looking at a kid who used to run around rehearsal, now keeping his father’s time in front of the men who survived it.

Dolly Parton. Donald Trump. Both 80.
One was born with nothing. One was born with everything.
One lived a life defined by love, kindness, and generosity. One built his life around hate, revenge, and grievances.
One is adored. One is Abhorred.
Your choice in life matters.
