@MidwestStormsWX@SansNevis But every weather expert had indicated with each year the storms get worse and strong storms more frequent...and his point was given the larger countries contribution to the increase...
The crazy part is that literally everything that we said would happen in the eyewallβs landfall area happened β even the tossing of SUVs by extreme winds and turbulent vortices in the eyewall.
And yes β an enormous swath of western Jamaica lost much of its vegetation.
Though the intent maybe pure it is not being received as such, if you want to be helpful listen to what the intended audience is saying and adjust... people are different culturally and a whole nation is saying this isn't the approach.
This. Im pretty astounded by the things I've read today.
98% of us care, and try to convey a message of preparation and urgency. We've seen too many times here on our homeland what can happen. When Ian threatened Florida, many stayed because they had been through so many other storms and thought it would be no different despite the messaging. They thought they were prepared doing the same things they've always done.
Ian ended killing 149 people in Florida, the deadliest storm in many decades.
Our stern warnings come from experience, not a place of arrogance. We just want everyone to come out alive.
