On Monday, 19th January, TISA presented its submission to the Joint Committee on Finance & National Planning and the Committee on Public Debt and Privatisation on the proposed sale of 15% of the Government of Kenya’s stake in @SafaricomPLC
Our position is grounded in constitutional, fiscal, and strategic considerations #Thread
💡Public participation was compromised. Consultation only followed sustained public pressure and was conducted over a truncated 31-day December period, after the Executive and Treasury had already approved the transaction. This process amounted to procedural compliance, not meaningful participation.
💡 Selling a dividend-yielding asset to finance short-term budget gaps undermines intergenerational equity. The KSh 40.2 billion upfront payment for future dividends constitutes disguised borrowing off the books and designed to bypass debt discipline.
💡Value for money is not assured. The transaction is buyer-driven, excludes competitive price discovery, and fails to reflect Safaricom’s long-term strategic and intangible value.
Day 1 of training our Gender Transformative Agri-Food Systems (GTA) Champions on documenting stories of change. This training goes beyond storytelling for visibility; it is about contributing to systemic change. When GTA champions are equipped to document and communicate change, they help make visible how power shifts within households, communities, and agri-food governance structures actually happen. These stories become evidence that can influence policy, practice, and resource allocation. What is not documented is often excluded from decision-making spaces. This is why strengthening these skills is critical.

BREAKING NYIUSS, THINGS ARE BOILING NICELY!!
I think 4 months ago, I mentioned that the AUC candidacy was meant to go to Uhuru, but Raila, being the conman he is, went ahead and signed an MOU with Ruto even before the 25th protest, shortchanging Uhuru. Now, word has it that the meeting between Ruto and Uhuru has caused a rift in the "big boys" club.
In the MOU, Raila promised to back Ruto's reelection bid if he helped him win the AUC seat. However, things aren't going as planned in the AUC, as Djibouti's candidate's victory seems inevitable, and Ruto has already sensed danger ahead.
The ODM brigade was caught off guard by his meeting with Uhuru, which is why you haven't seen them comment about it, apart from Kaluma. Under normal circumstances, the first people to be excited about Ruto's handshake with Uhuru would have been Raila's camp, but that isn't the case.
In fact, Robert Alai has come out to call out Uhuru for trying to sabotage the broad-based government. According to Alai, Uhuru was against Raila's AUC bid, and word has it that Uhuru has been campaigning for Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Djibouti's candidate.
Us we have nothing to say, Adani bloggers have told us that we are in final stage of grief. Letu Jicho tu!!
