Great read. I love especially that this piece pushes into the biggest issue in Providence schools, and that is the catastrophically low morale of students and teachers. 5 years ago, the JH report REPEATEDLY discussed this, even more than test scores, yet most narratives leap frog right over morale, and it is even worse than it was at the time of the report. Kudos to the Eye for going right at it.

We all are in support of “educational choice,” which is about empowering families to select schools that best fit their children’s needs, whether it is a public school or charter school. However, closing public schools to give 1/2 the district away to charter schools is asinine.
