• Wolverine: #1 (and already #11 in full-year sales)
• Dragon Age: The Veilguard: #6 (never charted in full-year sales)

Debut-month PSN downloads (US/Europe):
• Wolverine: #1 / #2
• Veilguard: #9 / #11

Granted, Veilguard only had a few days of sales in its debut Circana month. The following month it ranked #11 on Circana’s US chart (and didn't chart in full-year sales), while ranking #7 in US PSN downloads and #12 in Europe.

EA confirmed Veilguard reached 1.5 million players (not sales) in its first two months, a figure that includes EA Play Pro subscribers and potentially used-game players.

By contrast, Wolverine not only charted far higher (despite it being a stacked month), but also posted the highest US debut revenue of any PlayStation release since Helldivers 2, the latter being the fastest-selling PlayStation game ever.

Helldivers 2 launched simultaneously on PC; Wolverine is a PS5 exclusive.

Both Circana's US PlayStation sales data and the PSN download charts are based on actuals, not estimates.

Alinea estimated Wolverine sold 1.9 million copies in just three days, a figure that may even be conservative if its reported US revenue trend held globally.

Wolverine also spent nearly three months at #1 and #2 (usually just behind GTA 6) on PSN’s best-selling pre-order charts, staying ahead of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 almost the entire time leading up to release. Conversely, Veilguard only briefly reached comparable positions.

Ultimately, a PS5 exclusive that sold multiple millions in a couple of weeks on a single platform, is simply not in the same commercial league as a multiplatform game that only reached 1.5 million players (NOT sales) over two months.
